The Fremantle Dockers are anticipated to make it seven consecutive wins as they face the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium. Despite potential boosts from players returning, the Bulldogs continue to struggle due to injuries, having lost their last 3 games. Fremantle's consistent form, characterized by a strong middle, is set to overpower the Bulldogs. The match is predicted to remain tight, with a margin of 1-39 points and an overall score of less than 183.5 points. Jye Amiss from Fremantle remains in excellent form, expected to lead with 3 goals.

Western Bulldogs vs Fremantle Dockers AFL Round 8 Tips

Western Bulldogs vs Fremantle Dockers, Round 8 2026 - Expert Prediction

The Dockers will make it seven wins in a row when they get past  spirited Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
Two teams at opposite ends of the form curve with Fremantle on a six-game run while the Bulldogs, decimated by injury, have lost their last 3 by 40+ margin. Luke Beveridge’s men should get a boost this week with Tim English a test to return, as the midfield has suffered heavily without their ruckman.

Even if English returns, the Dockers run will continue, but it should see the Dogs stay in touch for a longer period and keep this one from blowing out over 40 points. The Dockers will be still unmatchable inside their own 50 which will limit the Bulldogs scoring power which took a vast halt once Sam Darcy was ruled out for the season.

Fremantle will lock this one down in the midfield through their tough and fearless style of play while they take their chances inside 50 when they come, which has me expecting a game total under the 183.5 points.

Jye Amiss and Josh Treacy will be the targets for Freo inside 50. Treacy has kicked 3 goals in each of his last 2 against the Dogs while Amiss is the in-form forward with 14 goals in his last 4 for the Dockers.

  • The Dockers have won 6 straight, while the Western Bulldogs are on a 3-game skid.
  • Fremantle won both games against the Western Bulldogs last season
  • The average scoreline of the last 5 Dockers games is 142.8 points
  • Jye Amiss is averaging 3.5 goals per game in his last 4 matches.

Head to Head Stats

The Dockers got up in both matches against the Western Bulldogs in 2025, backing up their 97-81 home win in Round 4 with a 112-97 victory at Marvel in Round 24 returning them to finals footy in a winner takes all match in the final round of the season.

The last 6 matches between the Bulldogs and Dockers have hit the over on the game total.

Western Bulldogs Form Analysis

After being one of the early favourites for the premiership the Bulldogs have been severely hit by injury, losing Sam Darcy for the season, Tim English for an extended period, Cody Weightman since the Origin match and Tom Liberatore has been in and out of the side, while Marcus Bontempelli is carrying a knee concern. To make things even worse Aaron Naughton will now be sidelined after being stretchered off against the Swans.

With the lack of fluency in their side Luke Beverage has not been able to find the pieces of the puzzle to keep the Dogs afloat, losing their last 3 matches by as little as 40 and as much as 75 after winning their first 4 of the season.

Last weekend’s 66-point loss to the Swans highlighted the gap between the top and where the Western Bulldogs sit with the Swans having 36 scoring shots to the Bulldogs 15. The energy and toughness was there early for the Dogs however it was not sustainable for four quarters and the class and experience of Sydney eventually overpowered the young Dogs.

Fremantle Dockers Form Analysis

Fremantle are showing grit at the moment which we haven’t seen in previous years, winning their sixth straight match, putting up another classy fourth quarter to get a 14-point victory over a vast improving Carlton side.

Shai Bolton was the game changer for the Dockers in the final term with 15 touches and two crucial goals, winning the Arthur Leggett Medal in the Anzac Day clash. Bolton’s double was during a defining stretch where Freo kicked four in a  row to pull them out to an unassailable lead.

Fremantle hold their place in the top two and fourth in the Power Rankings, deservingly so with a tough style of play coming out in 2026 with everyone buying in and hitting the contests fearlessly. Fremantle are ranked second in the AFL in contested possession as well as being in the top 4 in ground ball gets and ground ball get in their defensive 50 and are top two behind Geelong in hard gets.
