AFL Power Rankings 2026 After Round 6: Every Team Ranked

Power rankings are not about the ladder. They are about who looks real.

Six rounds into the 2026 AFL season, the competition is starting to take shape. Some teams are building toward something serious. Others are already being left behind.

Here is where every club sits right now.

1. Sydney Swans

Sydney are the benchmark.

They have beaten top sides, their system holds up week to week, and their only loss has come against another elite team. Right now, they are the most complete side in the competition.

2. Hawthorn Hawks

Hawthorn have been one of the stories of the season.

They continue to beat quality opposition and look dangerous even without key players. The only thing separating them from top spot is one loss that does not match the rest of their form.

3. Western Bulldogs

The Bulldogs are building a serious case.

Wins over strong teams, including Brisbane, and the ability to perform away from home make them one of the most reliable sides in the competition right now.

4. Fremantle Dockers

Fremantle just keep winning.

It has not always been pretty, but they find a way. They are tough, disciplined and difficult to beat, which is exactly what you want from a top-four side.

5. Gold Coast Suns

Gold Coast sit just outside the top tier.

Their win over Geelong shows their ceiling, but inconsistency keeps them from pushing higher. The talent is obvious, the question is whether it holds week to week.

6. Brisbane Lions

Brisbane are trending upward.

Losses have come against top sides, while their wins have been controlled and convincing. They look like a team building into the season rather than peaking early.

7. Geelong Cats

Geelong are coasting without dominating.

There are flashes of a top team, but not sustained enough yet. They are in the mix, but not quite where they need to be.

8. Adelaide Crows

Adelaide sit right on the edge of the top group.

Close losses to quality opposition suggest they belong, but results have not fully followed. They feel competitive, but not quite proven.

9. Melbourne Demons

Melbourne are hard to pin down.

They have shown they can beat good teams, but their worst performances are a concern. The gap between their best and worst is what holds them back.

10. Collingwood Magpies

Collingwood are surviving on defence.

They stay in games, but their ball movement and scoring issues are limiting them. There is enough there to stay competitive, but not enough to fully trust.

11. St Kilda Saints

St Kilda are solid but unspectacular.

They have picked up wins, but nothing that suggests they can push into the top group just yet. They sit in that middle ground without much momentum.

12. GWS Giants

The Giants are inconsistent.

They have had good wins and poor losses, which leaves them stuck in the middle. Their best is good enough, but it has not shown often enough.

13. North Melbourne Kangaroos

North Melbourne are improving, but context matters.

The wins are there, but questions remain about who they have beaten. There is progress, but the real test is still ahead.

14. West Coast Eagles

West Coast are competitive, but not consistent.

They have had moments where they look improved, but when things go wrong, they still fall away too quickly.

15. Port Adelaide Power

Port Adelaide are unpredictable.

There are glimpses of a decent side, but too many performances where they drop off. Right now, they cannot be trusted week to week.

16. Essendon Bombers

Essendon’s big win over Melbourne lifts them slightly.

Outside of that, the season has been patchy. There are signs of improvement, but not enough consistency to move higher.

17. Carlton Blues

Carlton’s position reflects more than just results.

They have been in games but have not been able to close them out. For a team with their expectations, this start has been a major concern.

18. Richmond Tigers

Richmond are clearly last.

Still winless and struggling to stay competitive across four quarters, they are firmly in rebuild mode and a step behind the rest of the competition.
