Port Adelaide Power looks to leverage their home advantage at Adelaide Oval against the Gold Coast Suns in Round 24 of the AFL 2025. Despite a five-game losing streak, history favors the Power who have never lost to the Suns at this venue. Key players such as Zak Butters and Mitch Georgiades will be crucial for Port Adelaide. Meanwhile, Gold Coast enters this match strong against lower-half teams, boasting a powerful midfield but has consistently struggled at the Adelaide Oval. Expect a tightly contested game with potential standout performances from Noah Anderson.

Port Adelaide will push Gold Coast to the brink in Friday night footy at the Adelaide Oval.

The Power return home after a disappointing display against Carlton last weekend when going down by 54 points and will be desperate to break a five-game losing streak, sending their long-term coach, Ken Hinkley, out with a win.

Despite recent struggles, the Power pushed Fremantle in their last home game and will look to feed off the home crowd once again. History is in their favour — Gold Coast have never won at the Adelaide Oval in 12 attempts.

Zak Butters remains a shining light, consistently racking up disposals, while Mitch Georgiades has a solid recent record against the Suns with multiple goals in each of his last three outings against them.

Gold Coast enter Round 24 after a flat performance against GWS, going down by 35 but had won three straight prior and are strong against lower-half sides, winning nine of ten in 2025.

They boast an elite midfield trio in Noah Anderson, Touk Miller and Matt Rowell, who continue to dominate clearance and possession stats. However, their inability to perform at Adelaide Oval is a glaring concern.

Take Port to cover the line at home, but expect Gold Coast’s midfield to stay busy. Noah Anderson will step up with 30+, while Mitch Georgiades can bounce back with multiple goals after a quiet game last weekend.

  • The Suns have never defeated Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval in four attempts and have lost all 12 matches they have played at the venue
  • Mitch Georgiades has kicked 2+ goals in his past three matches against the Suns
  • Noah Anderson has had 30+ disposals in three of his past four matches
  • Zak Butters had 35 disposals the last time the two sides met

Head to Head

The two sides have not met since Round 18 last season and it was Gold Coast by 14 points. The Power won the two prior to that and those were held at the Adelaide Oval. The Suns have never defeated Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval in four attempts and have lost all 12 matches they have played at the venue.

Mitch Georgiades has kicked 2+ goals in his past three matches against the Suns. Zak Butters had 35 disposals the last time the two sides met, while Sam Flanders (30) and Noah Anderson (29) found their fare share for the Suns.

Port Adelaide have lost their past five matches. They have been well beaten in a number of those but did push Fremantle to the brink the last time they played at the Adelaide Oval, going down by just six points.

The Power were slow out of the blocks against Carlton and some big names were down, including Mitch Georgiades, who managed just one goal. The key forward has kicked 21 from his past 10 matches.

Zak Butters picked up a team-high 29 disposals against Carlton and has had 25+ in nine of his past 11, hitting 30+ in four of those while Ollie Wines has had 25+ in five of his past six

Port Adelaide Power Team News

Ollie Wines received a three match suspension with his case to be appealed. Josh Sinn was subbed out in the Carlton match with a corked calf, while Allir Allir rolled his ankle. Both will be assessed during the week. A number of Power’s injured players are done for the season with only Ryan Burton some chance of returning. Jeremy Finlayson had a huge game in the SANFL and will be considered.

Gold Coast won three in a row prior to the loss against the Giants, while they have won nine of 10 against sides in the bottom half of the ladder. As the ‘away’ side this season, they have a win-loss record of 6-5. They were 61-point losers the last time they played at the Adelaide Oval, which was as recently as Round 19 against Adelaide. They have never won at the venue in 12 attempts.

The Suns top the competition for clearances and inside 50s over the past five rounds and will look to put the Power defence under pressure with some dominance in the middle.

Noah Anderson comes off 32 disposals against GWS, while Touk Miller (28) and Matt Rowell (25) were also prominent. Anderson has had 30+ in three of his past four, while Rowell has gone 25+ in his past six. Ben King booted two goals against GWS and has 14 goals from his past four matches.
