Brisbane and Hawthorn feature in a mouth-watering clash and this one is set to go down to the wire.

For the winner, a spot in the top four awaits and it is the Lions that head in as slight favourites, following their demolition job over in the west against Fremantle last weekend, when taking out the Dockers by 57 points.

But the Hawks have been equally as impressive, following up their thrashing of Collingwood a fortnight ago with a comfortable 36-point victory over Melbourne.

Sam Mitchell’s side will need to overcome a moderate interstate record this season but the GABBA hasnt quite been the fortress it was last year for Brisbane, while the Hawks have won five of their past six against the Lions, who continue to be without their key playmaker, Lachie Neale

The Hawks' ability to transition the ball well and defend opposition inside-50 entries, puts them right in the hunt for an upset win. Take them with the small start, while Karl Amon and James Worpel should find plenty of the footy. Callum Ah Chee is a potential game-breaker for Brisbane.

Brisbane snapped a five-match losing streak against Hawthorn earlier this season when they ventured to the MCG in Round 11, knocking over the Hawks by 33 points. It was their small forwards that did the damage with Callum Ah Chee, Cam Rayner and Charlie Cameron combining for nine goals. Karl Amon had 29 disposals for the Hawks.

Amon has had 29 disposals in his past two against the Lions. James Worpel has had 25+ in three of his past four. Josh Dunkley has had 25+ in four of his past five for Brisbane. The Hawks have not played the Lions at the GABBA since 2019 and it was a 19-point win for Brisbane on that occasion.
