The upcoming AFL Round 11 clash sees both the GWS Giants and Brisbane Lions seeking redemption after disappointing losses in the previous week. GWS has shown vulnerability, struggling offensively and defensively, while Brisbane maintains a potent attack, led by Charlie Cameron. Expert analysis predicts the reigning premiers, Brisbane, will be too strong at the Giants' home turf. Expect the Lions’ superior ball movement and scoring capacity to secure a comfortable win, with GWS likely failing to surpass 86.5 points.

GWS Giants vs Brisbane Lions, Round 11 2026 - Expert Prediction

GWS and Brisbane are looking for a bounce back performance but it will be the Premiers that get the job done in the harbour city on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides had disappointing losses last week but a defeat at the hands of West Coast definitely has alarm bells ringing in western Sydney. The Giants let one get away and it showed their vulnerabilities in 2026.

Brisbane got outclassed by Geelong, however, they have won three of its last four games and still ranks among the AFL’s best attacking teams for inside 50s, marks and scoring shots. Even in last week’s loss to Geelong, the Lions created plenty of opportunities before being overwhelmed in the third quarter.

Brisbane’s ball movement and midfield quality should be enough to see them contain the Giants on their own turf. GWS have failed to score over 74 points in all of their losses this season and they will likely fall to the same fate here against Brisbane.

Charlie Cameron has been a key orchestrator for the Lions attack, which is averaging just under 110 points per game in their last 5 matches. Expect Cameron to kick another couple of goals to free up Logan Morris down low.

  • GWS have not beaten a top eight side since Opening Round.
  • GWS has averaged just 81.6 points across its last five games.
  • The Lions rank top-tier for inside 50s and clearances this season.
  • Charlie Cameron has kicked 2+ goals in each of his last 5 games.

Head to Head

Recent meetings between these clubs have produced plenty of high-scoring football.

GWS won both regular season clashes in 2024 and 2025, including an 11-point victory at the Gabba last season behind massive performances from Jesse Hogan and Aaron Cadman.

The Lions, however, edged the Giants in last year’s semi-final by five points in one of the games of the season.

GWS Giants Form Analysis

GWS enters Round 11 searching for consistency after slipping to 4-6 with last week’s disappointing 17-point loss to West Coast. The Giants looked in control late in the third quarter before fading badly, conceding the final four goals of the game in a frustrating collapse.

Clayton Oliver starred with 38 disposals and 12 clearances, while Lachie Ash, Jake Stringer and Harvey Thomas all contributed strongly, but the Giants again struggled defensively once momentum shifted. Their transition game, usually one of their strengths, was heavily disrupted under pressure.

The Giants have now lost four of their last six matches and are averaging just 81.6 points across their last five games. Defensively they’ve also been vulnerable, conceding 93 points per match during that stretch.

Brisbane Lions Form Analysis

Brisbane heads into this clash looking to rebound after a disappointing 41-point loss to Geelong at the Gabba last round. The Lions were competitive early but were completely overrun during a damaging third-quarter burst from the Cats.

Charlie Cameron kicked three goals and Josh Dunkley battled hard in the midfield, while Lachie Neale still found plenty of the football despite heavy attention throughout the night.

Before that defeat, Brisbane had won three straight games in dominant fashion, including big victories over Essendon and Adelaide where they scored 143 and 127 points respectively.

The Lions are still averaging 109.6 points across their last five games, highlighting just how dangerous their attack remains. Their midfield depth, clearance work and ability to generate repeat inside 50s continue to be major strengths.
