Game, Set, Match
The regular season is done and dusted for another year and the AFL Awards are right around the corner. Nick Daicos $2.50 is odds on to take the prestigous medal but both Jordan Dawson $6.25 and Noah Anderson $7 have had strong finishes to the year while the Pies have faltered.
Bailey Smith $4.70 has likely missed too many games to reach the heights of the other players while Matt Rowell $12 is a smokey for the award especially with a fantastic performance in the last game of the regular season.
The Run Home
Nick Daicos has taken a massive hit following his team's run of poor form. He still leads the race with 2 games left to play but Jordan Dawson is right on his heels. Once again, Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell are high up but have likely taken too many points from eachother to get the nod.
Bailey Smith fell away mid-season missing games through injury but is still an integral part to Geelong's success.
Post Bye Round Analysis
The run home has well and truly begun and the race for the Brownlow is hotter than ever. Nick Daicos relinquished the odds lead to Bailey Smith for a week or two but has regained top spot again despite the Pies not being the dominant force they were earlier in the season.
Jordan Dawson has been a major contributer to the success of the Crows this season and sees himself poised for a late run for the Brownlow. Bailey Smith will likely have missed too many games and given up points to Jeremy Cameron to compete in what is expected to be a tight finish in the points race.
Noah Anderson is the sneaky dark horse but the Suns have multiple players that have shared the spotlight this season.
Pre Bye Round Analysis
Nick Daicos has been the odds leader for the majority of the season and with Collingwood playing so well will likely continue to lead the ground through the 5 weeks of byes.
Jordan Dawson was out of the top 5 for a few weeks but has surged back up the standings with Adelaide returning to scintillating form while Bailey Smith is doing wonders at his new club, even picking up a win over the team he left in the Bulldogs.
Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell are two of the key men in the success of the Gold Coast Suns but are likely to take more points off each-other inhibiting their opportunity to score high like Daicos, Dawson or Smith.
Pre-Season Analysis
Cripps obliterated the record for most votes in the 2024 edition with 45, picking up his second Brownlow Medal after also winning in 2022.
Daicos was extremely unlucky to miss out, with the Collingwood star also breaking the previous record with 38 total votes.
After narrowly missing out, Daicos is the early favourite to win the 2025 Brownlow Medal, listed at $4.10 with Elitebet.
Cripps, who will now be looking to join an exclusive club of players to win three Brownlow Medals, is priced at $10.
Sydney midfielder Isaac Heeney had a tremendous season in 2024 and is expected to go to another level again in 2025 - he's $15 to take out the award, while Caleb Serong is slightly ahead of him at $13.
Jason Horne-Francis, Chad Warner, Clayton Oliver, Lachie Neale, Christian Petracca and Tom Green are also players expected to contend in these early stages.
Known as 'Charlie', the Brownlow Medal is given to the fairest and best player across the AFL season. The winner of the medal is decided across their performances both at home and on the road across the entirety of the season. Match officials cast their votes after each match.
Betting on the Brownlow Medal winner is something that can offer a lot of value. The best players are usually separated by the smallest of margins at the top, making wagering on the winner potentially very profitable.
The Brownlow Medal winner odds will fluctuate dramatically throughout the course of the season and even before the first bounce of the new campaign, meaning timing is important when placing your bet.
