Finals Week 2

The Suns and the Crows have been eliminated and the Prelims are set. Geelong Cats $2.60 are still the favourites while the Brisbane Lions $5.30 have now the highest odds to claim back to back premierships.

Collingwood Magpies $3.60 are tipped to make it through their game but the Hawthorn Hawks $4.80 bring a lot of unknown to the final four.

Finals Week 1

Fremantle and GWS have been knocked out with Collingwood Magpies $3.30 and Geelong Cats $2.45 both going through to a prelim and earning another weeks rest.

Brisbane Lions $8.50 will need to defend their title without Lachie Neale while Adelaide Crows $11 were found out in a big way and have dropped dramatically in the rankings.

Hawthorn Hawks $10 have gained ground with their exciting style of play while Gold Coast Suns $20 are the dark horse in their first ever finals campaign.

Round 24

The final round of competition definately threw up some surprises with the Fremantle Dockers $23 booking themselves a spot ahead of the Western Bulldogs. Adelaide Crows $5 secured a minor premiership but see themselves further down the odds rankings than the favourites Geelong Cats $3.75 and defending champs Brisbane Lions $3.90.

Collingwood Magpies $7, Hawthorn Hawks $15 and GWS Giants $18 are in that middle tier and could upset a favourite on their day while the Gold Coast Suns $31 finally got the monkey off their back with a win over the Bombers in their makeup game securing them a maiden finals series.

Round 23

Fremantle Dockers $81 have fallen out of favour with a tough loss at home to the Brisbane Lions $5.50 and will now need to defeat the Western Bulldogs $18 on the road at Marvel to decide who gets into the 8.

Collingwood Magpies $9 suffered yet another defeat but it's the Geelong Cats $3.80 that now lead the race from the Adelaide Crows $4.50. There is still a lot to play for with almost every team being able to affect their finishing spot heading into the final round of the regular season.

Round 22

Another loss for the Collingwood Magpies $8.00 has seen them not only tumble down the ladder but also the odds rankings. They are a mathematical danger of missing the 8 but are not currently likely for a top 4 spot.

Geelong Cats $4.50 and Adelaide Crows $3.75 are both starting to reach their peaks and have shown good form in the past few rounds.

Western Bulldogs $18 are still ranked higher than GWS Giants $21 despite having to remain undefeated to get into the 8. Fremantle Dockers $15 present the best value right now sitting in 4th on the ladder.

Round 21

Collingwood Magpies $5.50 have tumbled down the list following their loss to Brisbane Lions $5.00, their 3rd loss in 4 games.

Adelaide Crows $3.80 rule the roost with prolific scoring and defence priming them for a title shot. GWS Giants $21 and Hawthorn Hawks $26 are stark outsiders with one of the bottom ranked teams set to miss a finals spot.

Round 20

Then there were 9. The Western Bulldogs $26 need to remain undefeated in their last 4 games to even make finals while any more slip ups from the defending premiers Brisbane Lions $7 could see them outside the top 4.

GWS Giants $10 are starting to peak and it is difficult to discount the youth and energy of the Fremantle Dockers $18 who could spoil the party for a veteran team.

Adelaide Crows $4.50  are currently the main contenders against the Collingwood Magpies $4.00 for the minor premiership.

Round 18

A bit of movement this week with upsets in a few top 8 matchups. Adelaide Crows $6.50 beat Western Bulldogs $14 who now slip down the rankings. Hawthorn Hawks $12 also lose some ground after their defeat at the hands of Fremantle Dockers $21 who keep their finals hopes alive and shorten dramatically.

Gold Coast Suns $20 haven't moved much despite getting an important win over league leaders Collingwood Magpies $3.90 who slide just a touch.

Round 17

The race for September is starting to heat up but there is little movement on the odds market. Fremantle Dockers $31 have stretched out after losing to the Sydney Swans $101 last weekend with the Swans still a mathematical chance of playing finals.

Adelaide Crows $9.50 continue their climb (again).

Round 16

The last of the bye rounds and the odds market is starting to steady with the usual suspects at the top of the list. The top three teams are almost a lock but there is only a few wins separating 2nd and 9th.

Round 15

Not much has changed this week in the rankings with few upsets taking place. GWS Giants $14 beat Gold Coast Suns $21 last weekend to keep the order in tact.

Round 14

The top 9 teams have put a big space between them and the rest of the field and while teams like Carlton $67 and Port Adelaide $226 can still make the 8 their form is not strong enough to back them in.

Western Bulldogs $7.50 are now up to third in the odds rankings despite currently sitting 9th on the competition ladder.

Round 13

Geelong Cats $5 move up to second spot in the rankings following the Brisbane Lions $7 loss to the Adelaide Crows $9 who also move up in the rankings.

GWS $19 continue to fall and have a couple of tough games ahead of them before their bye. That number could get larger if you have ice in your veins.

Round 12

The Bookies have made some moves following Round 12 with the Fremantle Dockers $20 shortening significantly following their win over the Gold Coast Suns $20 who have slipped down the rankings.

Adelaide Crows $11 continue to climb with their electric attack on display once again. The gap to the rest of the pack has increased with the bookies not giving much belief to the also-rans.

Round 11

Hawthorn Hawks $9 have fallen off their perch after a slip in form which has seen them drop two straight games.

The Gold Coast Suns $14 and Adelaide Crows $16 offer the most value based plainly on the results so far this season. Fremantle Dockers $31 will likely secure a finals spot but the big question mark remains around finals capabilities.

Round 10

Again, few changes in the order of the list but the numbers have changed dramatically. Brisbane Lions $7.00 have lost some ground on the Collingwood Magpies $4.60 but now are even stevens with Hawthorn Hawks $7.00 & Western Bulldogs $7.00 with the Geelong Cats $7.50 slightly behind.

Fremantle Dockers $31 are a long way off the pace but re-enter the top rankings after a win over the GWS Giants $11 pushing the Carlton Blues $34 out of the list.

Round 9

No change in the order of the top 6 despite some interesting results over the weekend. Gold Coast Suns $16 return to the fray and present the best value after a solid win over the Western Bulldogs $9.00 at the weekend.

Sydney Swans $34 have fallen again following their loss in Round 9 while the Brisbane Lions $5.00 haven't moved despite drawing with the 2nd worst team in the comp.

Round 8

The Brisbane Lions $5.00 have shortened after disposing of the Gold Coast Suns $26 in the Q Clash at the weekend. The Western Bulldogs $8.50 are the biggest movers as they continue to impress with another 4 points in the win column. Adelaide Crows $18 have also re-entered the fold.

Round 7

Some significant movement in the odds rankings following Round 7. Collingwood Magpies $4.80 are the outright favourites with Brisbane Lions $6.00 leading the contenders.

Western Bulldogs $12 are the biggest movers following their victory over GWS Giants $7.50, while the Carlton Blues $18 continue to make headway having won three in a row.

Round 6

Collingwood Magpies $6.00 have shortened dramatically after going top of the AFL Ladder following their win last weekend. Hawthorn Hawks $7.00 have fallen slightly out of favour with two straight losses under their belt.

Carlton Blues $21 have inched their way back onto the list at 9th in the odds rankings but are yet to play a consistently good brand of footy. Gold Coast Suns $20 have dropped after a loss to the Richmond Tigers over the weekend.

Round 5

Gather Round has come and gone and despite a couple of big scores we haven't seen too much movement in the odds markets. Hawthorn Hawks $6.00 relinquish top spot to the defending premiers after their first loss of the season to Port Adelaide $51. Adelaide Crows $14.00 also were beaten in front of home fans but stay steady in the middle of the pack.

Gold Coast Suns $15.00 are currently great value given their amazing start to the season, they will likely not stay at this price much longer.

Round 4

The Adelaide Crows $11 push out every so slightly following their narrow loss to the Gold Coast Suns $14 who are one of the three teams yet to be defeated along with Hawthorn Hawks $4.80 and Brisbane Lions $6.00 who remain stable at the top of the order.

Fremantle Dockers $14 have won two in a row and are starting to push up in the odds race together with the Sydney Swans $14 who are in the same boat.

Round 3

Hawthorn Hawks $4.80 have consolidated their spot on top of the standings and are shortest odds early in the season to take the flag. Adelaide Crows $10 are the surprise packet going 3-0 to start 2025 and look like a top flight team.

Despite a raft of injuries the Western Bulldogs $15 are still ranking in the top 8 of odds and could be a team to keep an eye on as the season progresses.

Round 2

The Fremantle Dockers $19 suffered their second straight loss at the hands of Sydney Swans $15 with those teams shifting significantly in the numbers.

Geelong Cats $11 take a short slide after a poor performance in their loss at the weekend but have not been at double digits for a while.

Hawthorn $5.00 and GWS $6.00 are still the frontrunners.

Round 1

Opening Round and Round 1 are in the books and Hawthorn $5.50 have positioned themselves at the top of the odds rankings. Defending premiers Brisbane $6.50 and perennial finalists GWS Giants $6.50 are both in the mix.

Carlton $20 have fallen out of the top 8 with a lacklustre performance against the Tigers but are great value if you believe they can turn it around.

Pre-Season Analysis

The Lions are the early favourites to defend their premiership and are priced at $6.50, while the Swans are have drifted out to $10 to erase the heartbreak of 2024 and secure the flag.

Hawthorn had a standout season, returning to the finals and they are favoured to continue that momentum and have another big campaign. They are $8.00 to go all the way.

GWS and Carlton both lost to Brisbane in the 2024 finals series and they are $8.50 and $9 respectively to win the 2025 AFL Grand Final.

The Bulldogs were knocked out at the first time of asking in the 2024 finals series and are $12 for 2025, while Collingwood - who endured a horror campaign in 2024 after winning the 2023 Grand Final - are rated a $9 chance to bounce back.

After making the preliminary finals in 2024, Geelong are $9.00 this season, while Fremantle round out the leading contenders at $10.

The AFL season is incredibly long and arduous, and it will see the odds shift dramatically as sides over-achieve and under-perform. A side will rarely stay at the head of the betting for the entire season, with the competition incredibly hotly-contested.

With an entire season coming and going before the finals, each side needs a large slice of good fortune alongside being in form for most of the campaign. The AFL has been, and continues to be the ultimate test of endurance and skill in the world of Aussie Rules.
