Taylor Fritz vs Hubert Hurkacz Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Fritz to reach Geneva semi-finals

Entering Geneva with just one completed match win on clay for the season, Fritz was desperate to restore some confidence and build momentum before Roland Garros. It's fairly uncommon for top five players to compete the week before a slam, but the World No. 4 clearly thought he was underdone and needed more matches under his belt before tacking the second major of the year.

Fritz was a straight sets winner in his Geneva opener over Quentin Halys, but now faces a step up in class against Hurkacz, who continues to battle a leg issue. Hurkacz is coming off a great run to the Rome quarter-finals last week, while he's advanced to the Geneva quarter-finals without dropping a set. It's a tough match to call, but I'm not sure how much Hurkacz wants to push his niggling leg concern before Roland Garros. Coupled with Fritz's dominance in this matchup, I'm backing the top seed to advance into the semi-finals.

Fritz leads 4-1, with a total of five tiebreaks played across those meetings. The most-recent clash resulted in a 64 57 76(4) victory for Fritz at the United Cup in January 2025.

Fritz comes into this contest with a 17-8 record on the season and still chasing his first title of 2025.

The American started the season in triumphant fashion by taking home the United Cup for his country, but it was downhill from there, with Fritz suffering a third round loss to Gael Monfils at the Australian Open before losing relatively early at Dallas, Delray Beach and Indian Wells.

Fritz responded with a strong run to the semi-finals of Miami, but his transition to clay hasn't been great, winning just one completed match before Geneva and going down in his opening match in Rome to compatriot Marcos Giron.

The 27-year-old got his Geneva Open campaign up and running with a 6-4 7-6 victory over Quentin Halys, firing 29 winners on his way to the last eight.

It's been a tough season for Hurkacz, who comes into this clash with a 12-9 record and down at No. 31 in the rankings, which is his lowest mark since 2021.

Hurkacz has been battling knee and leg injuries since Wimbledon last year and just can't seem to get back to full fitness for sustained periods.

From Marseille to Madrid, Hurkacz only played one tournament, but perhaps he's starting to feel more comfortable on court after making the Rome Masters quarter-finals last week, defeating Jakub Mensik and the man who knocked out Fritz in Giron.

The Pole has continued his winning ways in Geneva, toppling a pair of Frenchman in Arthur Cazaux and Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets to reach the quarter-finals.
