It's been a brilliant season for Musetti, but the one thing missing is a piece of ATP silverware - will that change in the Chengdu final? The Italian has surged into the top 10 on the back of a seismic clay swing and returned to form after injury by reaching the US Open quarter-finals in his previous tournament. Musetti hasn't really been troubled this week, but this could prove a tricky contest.
Tabilo has endured a tough campaign, but he's shot back to some of his best tennis in Chengdu, firstly qualifying for the main draw before making a run all the way to the final. Tabilo's serving this tournament has been absolutely insane - he's averaging 76 per cent of first serves, so he's obviously found a great rhythm, and with Chengdu 500m above sea level, it's working a treat in the altitude. If Tabilo maintains that quality of serving, he's a big chance to make life difficult for Musetti, but still have to side with the top seed to get the job done and come away with his first title of 2025.
Head To Head
This will be the first career meeting at tour level between the pair.
Lorenzo Musetti Form
Musetti comes into this clash with a 33-13 record on the season, bulldozing into the world's top 10 after a prolific clay swing.
It was easily top five level tennis from Musetti on the dirt, with the Italian reaching the Monte Carlo final before advancing to three consecutive semi-finals in Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros.
However, Musetti was struck down by injury in the French Open semi-finals, which affected his form over the coming months - indeed, he proceeded to lose four of his next five matches.
Musetti managed to bounce back with a solid run to the US Open quarter-finals and he's backed it up with this final showing in Chengdu. The 23-year-old is into his second straight Chengdu final after taking care of Dino Prizmic, Nikoloz Basilashvili and Alexander Shevchenko.
It was a dominant 6-3 6-1 win for Musetti in the semi-finals over Shevchenko, with the top seed winning 24 of 26 first serve points and never facing a break point.
Alejandro Tabilo Form
Tabilo arrived in Chengdu with a poor 5-13 record at tour-level for the season, struggling with form and injuries, which resulted in him tumbling outside of the top 100.
However, Tabilo has returned to some of his best tennis over the last couple of weeks, starting with a run to the Guangzhou Challenger, where he beat the likes of Nishesh Basavareddy and Pavel Kotov.
Due to his lowly ranking, Tabilo was forced to go through qualifying in Chengdu, but that's proved a blessing in disguise, with the Chilean continuing to build up his form and momentum.
After qualifying, Tabilo has dropped just one set on his way to the final, conquering Jordan Thompson, Luciano Darderi, Chris O'Connell and Brandon Nakashima.
A former World No. 19 after winning two ATP titles last year, Tabilo produced some massive tennis to beat Nakashima 6-4 7-6 in the semi-finals - his best win by ranking since April when he knocked out Novak Djokovic in Monte Carlo.

Verdict
Tabilo is in lethal serving form and back to some of his best tennis, while Musetti is also at the level that propelled him into the top 10.
This should be a close contest - I'm backing Over 22.5 games, with Musetti edging it.
