Jannik Sinner is set to face Jakub Mensik in the Qatar Open quarter-finals in Doha. Sinner boasts an impressive record against players outside the top 15, with a 98-2 mark. He has seen under 20.5 games in recent matches, suggesting a strong performance against Mensik, who is on a nine-match winning streak. Jannik Sinner vs Jakub Mensik Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Jannik Sinner will no doubt be confident of extending his dominant record against players outside the top 15 when he comes up against Jakub Mensik in the Qatar Open quarter-finals in Doha on Thursday night.

The top two of Carlos Alcaraz and Sinner are showcasing an absurd level of dominance over the rest of the field and the pair remain on a collision course to meet for the 17th time in the Doha final this weekend. Sinner has moved through to the last eight without dropping a set and that's expected to continue when he faces Mensik - although the Czech has been in great form himself to start the season, coming into this clash on a nine-match winning streak.

However, that's likely to count for nothing here. Sinner is an extraordinary 98-2 vs players outside the top 15 dating back to 2023. One of those losses was via retirement and the other was against Alexander Bublik, who is now in the top 10. Good luck, Jakub. But in all seriousness, Sinner will likely raise his level after he was pushed to 5-5 in the second set vs Alexei Popyrin in his previous round and he knows Mensik is a more difficult prospect. Expect the Italian to be firing on all cylinders here and take Under 20.5 total games.
  • Sinner is 98-2 in his last 100 matches vs players outside the top 15
  • Sinner has won his last 12 ATP 500 matches
  • Sinner has seen Under 20.5 games in four of his last five best-of-three matches vs players outside top 15
  • Mensik is 4-9 in quarter-final matches in his career
  • Mensik is 3-2 vs top five players
  • Mensik is 6-1 lifetime in Doha
  • Mensik is on an eight-match winning streak this season

Sinner vs Mensik Head To Head

This will be the first career meeting between the pair.

Jannik Sinner Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 7-1
  • ATP Doha Record: 2-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 2
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 1

Sinner is looking to really kickstart his season in Doha, but the only way that will truly happen is if he takes home the title, preferably from his point of view beating Alcaraz in the final.

The Italian saw his two-year title run at the Australian Open come to an end last month, suffering a shock five-set defeat in the semi-finals to 38-year-old Novak Djokovic.

Returning to action for a maiden appearance in Doha this week, Sinner has advanced into the quarter-finals without dropping a set.

Sinner eased past Tomas Machac 6-1 6-4 in his opening round before taking care of Alexei Popyrin 6-3 7-5, not facing a break point.

“I feel like I started off very well in the first set, not so many problems with my service games,” the World No. 2 said post-match.
“But after I struggled a bit. I felt like he raised his level and I lost a bit of rhythm and confidence. I just tried to dig deep… I’m very happy. You have to find different ways to win matches.”

Jakub Mensik Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 10-2
  • ATP Doha Record: 6-1
  • Current Ranking: No. 16
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 16

Mensik truly announced himself on tour when he captured his maiden Masters 1000 title last year in Miami, defeating Djokovic in the final.

The 20-year-old is now an established top 20 players and looking to crack the top 10 at some stage this year.

It's been a strong start to the year, with Mensik securing his second ATP title in Auckland, while he also made the fourth round of the Australian Open before being forced to withdraw with an abdominal injury.

Mensik has returned to action this week in Doha and continued his great form - although he hasn't faced a top 100 opponent, beating qualifier Jan Choinski 6-7(6) 6-2 6-4 and World No. 319 Zhizhen Zhang 6-3 6-2.

Verdict

Sinner absolutely dominates everyone outside the top 15 and although Mensik's in good form, I'm backing Under 20.5 games here.
