In an eagerly anticipated quarter-final match at the Erste Bank Open, World No. 2 Jannik Sinner faces a formidable opponent in Alexander Bublik. Despite Sinner's strong favor, Bublik, who has beaten him earlier this year, is in career-best form and thrives on indoor courts. This match promises an intriguing contest, with Bublik recommended for a small stake at big odds. Sinner, on an impressive streak, aims to maintain dominance, but Bublik's unpredictable style could pose a challenge.

Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Bublik Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

World No. 2 Jannik Sinner faces a dangerous test in the Erste Bank Open quarter-finals when he comes up against the enigmatic Alexander Bublik on Friday night in Vienna.

Of course Sinner is the deserved overwhelming favourite - he's on an 18-match winning streak indoors and has barely lost a completed match to anyone other than Carlos Alcaraz over the last 12 months. However, one of those players to have beaten him was Bublik, who conquered the Italian on his way to the ATP 500 title in Halle earlier this year.

Admittedly, it's highly unlikely Bublik repeats that result - especially after Sinner trounced him for the loss of just three games at the US Open. However, Bublik remains in career-best form and his unpredictable brand of tennis can cause issues for Sinner - we've seen it on more than one occasion. Bublik's best surface is also indoor hardcourt, where the elements are taken out of the equation. Backing Bublik to take a set and win outright is purely an odds-based play - anything less than $6 or $7 and I'd stay away.

Head To Head

Sinner leads 5-2. As mentioned, Bublik prevailed 3-6 6-3 6-4 in the second round of Halle earlier this season, but that was when the Italian was coming off that epic five-set Roland Garros final with Alcaraz. Sinner demolished Bublik 6-1 6-1 6-1 in the US Open R16 a couple of months later.

Jannik Sinner Form

Sinner comes into this contest with a 45-6 record on the season, adding two more major titles to his collection, but recently giving up his No. 1 ranking to rival Alcaraz.

I guess by Sinner's seismic standards, it's been a disappointing last couple of months since he captured a maiden Wimbledon crown.

The Italian was forced to retire with illness in the Cincinnati Masters final and was outplayed by Alcaraz for the US Open title.

Sinner did manage to pick up the ATP 500 title in Beijing, but again had to retire in Shanghai with severe cramping against Tallon Griekspoor.

The 24-year-old won the Vienna title in his last appearance in 2023 and he's well on track to repeat that effort this week, crushing Daniel Altmaier in the opening round before overcoming countryman Flavio Cobolli 6-2 7-6, extending his unbeaten record over Italians to 17-0.

Alexander Bublik Form

It's been a career-best season for Bublik - he heads into this showdown with a 33-19 record and flying at a career-high ranking of No. 16.

Bublik has won four ATP titles across 2025 on three different surfaces, highlighting his versatility and improved attitude when it comes to smaller events.

The run all started during his least-preferred clay swing, where he made the French Open quarter-finals before taking out Sinner en route to his Halle title.

Bublik proceeded to win back-to-back titles in Gstaad and Kitzbuhel before reaching the US Open R16, where it took Sinner to snap his 11-match winning streak.

The 28-year-old collected his fourth title of the year in Hangzhou and is enjoying another great run here in Vienna, sweeping aside Alejandro Tabilo and Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets.

Verdict

Sinner is obviously the huge favourite and most likely wins.

However, Bublik has beaten him this year and remains in career-best form, while indoors is his best surface. At big odds, he's worth a small stake for the upset.
