One of the more underrated stats of the year is Kopriva doing 8-0 in completed Round 1 matches at tour-level, which has laid the foundation for his rankings rise.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a prolific Golden Swing on clay, reaching the quarter-finals in Buenos Aires and semis in Rio.

Kopriva has continued to operate at a high level on European clay, making the quarter-finals in Munich before a nice run to the R16 in Madrid, beating ninth seed Rublev along the way.

The Czech will be making his Hamburg debut this tournament and will be hoping to extend his perfect record in opening rounds - and land his first top 10 win since 2021 in the process.
