It's been another turbulent season for Zverev - he always maintains his spot around the top of the rankings, but when it comes to big matches against elite opponents, he continues to fall by the wayside. It happened again last week, with Zverev going down in straight sets to Taylor Fritz in the Stuttgart final, failing to win a single point in the second set tiebreak. When it comes to the pressure points, Zverev consistently second-guesses himself and it continues to cost him.

There's been a couple of big wins sprinkled in too, with Giron defeating Casper Ruud at Indian Wells and Fritz in Rome, going 2-2 vs top 20 players for the season.

However, Giron does come into this contest on a three-match losing streak, going down in the first round of the French Open to Tallon Griekspoor. Giron has fared well in Halle in the past, reaching the quarter-finals in 2021 and 2024.
