Alexander Zverev and Flavio Cobolli are set to face off in the Terra Wortmann quarter-finals in Halle. While Zverev boasts a strong 34-12 season record, he's been susceptible to key losses. Conversely, Cobolli has demonstrated impressive form, winning 9 of his last 10 matches and capturing two titles. Despite a previous defeat to Zverev, Cobolli, priced near $6.00, is expected to challenge the German, potentially covering a +4.5 games line and aiming for an outright win. This intriguing match promises intense competition.

Alexander Zverev vs Flavio Cobolli Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

An intriguing match awaits in the Terra Wortmann quarter-finals in Halle as second seed Alexander Zverev comes up against the in-form Flavio Cobolli on Friday.

Cobolli is one of the form players on tour at the moment, coming into this encounter having won nine of his last 10 matches and securing two ATP titles over the last couple of months. Cobolli's one loss during that stretch did come against Zverev, however, the Italian was fatigued from winning the ATP 500 title in Hamburg and simply ran out of steam in the third round of Roland Garros.

Zverev served at an incredible 90% of first serves in his three-set win over another Italian in Lorenzo Sonego in the Halle second round, but I'm still keen to fade the German with Cobolli's odds nearing $6.00. Zverev has suffered a number of uncharacteristic defeats throughout the season and Cobolli is due a top 10 victory having lost all nine previous encounters. I'm backing Cobolli to cover a +4.5 games line as the best bet, with a smaller stake on the Italian winning outright.

Head To Head

As mentioned, Zverev leads 1-0, easing to a 62 76(4) 61 victory in the third round of Roland Garros last month.

Alexander Zverev Form

Zverev heads into this clash with a 34-12 record on the season, but he's once again suffered more heartbreak at the slams, which is what he's really focusing on.

After going down in straight sets to Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open final, Zverev had the chance to secure the No. 1 ranking after the Italian was suspended for the next three months, but he faltered under the pressure and didn't come close.

The German hasn't really been a factor at the main events throughout the season, with his lone title coming at home in Munich.

Zverev was upstaged by veteran Novak Djokovic in the French Open quarter-finals and also toppled by Taylor Fritz in the Stuttgart final last week.

The 28-year-old opened his Halle campaign by beating Marcos Giron in straight sets before edging out Lorenzo Sonego in a deciding set tiebreak.

Flavio Cobolli Form

Cobolli comes into this contest with a 18-13 record on the season, really picking things up after a nightmare start to the year.

Indeed, Cobolli has suffered nine opening round exits so far in 2025, but most of them came during the opening three months of the year.

The Italian has converted both of his quarter-final appearances this season into titles, capturing the 250 crown in Bucharest before surging to the 500-level Hamburg silverware just before Roland Garros, where he had a solid run to the third round.

Cobolli has continued his brilliant form into Halle, saving match points to defeat rising star Joao Fonseca in the opening round before emerging triumphant as the underdog again when he conquered Denis Shapovalov in three sets to make the quarters.

Verdict

Cobolli is in career-best form and gunning for a first top 10 scalp, while Zverev continues to operate below peak level and could be there for the taking in Halle.

Backing Cobolli to cover and he's good value for the upset.
