In a much-anticipated A-League derby, Sydney FC will take on Western Sydney Wanderers at Allianz Stadium. Sydney has failed to score in four of their last five matches, primarily due to the absence of key player Joe Lolley. Conversely, Wanderers have shown signs of improvement under new manager Gary Van Egmond, securing recent victories including a 1-0 win over Perth. With Ryan Fraser joining the team, the Wanderers are poised to clinch another derby victory. It's a clash where the Wanderers' form and debutant Fraser's impact could prove decisive.

Sydney FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers Tips & Prediction

It's set to be another fiery derby showdown as Sydney FC and the Western Sydney Wanderers lock horns at Allianz Stadium in the A-League on Saturday night.

The Wanderers have endured a challenging season, but one of their four wins came over their bitter cross-town rivals and they're strongly positioned to double down here. Resurgent with new manager Gary Van Egmond in charge, the Wanderers have won two of their last three games - including last week's 1-0 victory over Perth as star summer recruit Ryan Fraser scored the winner on debut. Meanwhile, the Sky Blues are in horror form without Joe Lolley and come into this clash on the back of a 4-0 thrashing in last week's Big Blue against Victory.

Sydney have now failed to score in four of their last five games - they simply struggle to create without Lolley pulling the strings in the final third. The Wanderers are far too low on the ladder for the team they put out each week and it's only gotten stronger with the inclusion of former Southampton winger Fraser. I'm backing the Wanderers to secure all three points again, while both teams have struggled in front of goal lately, so BTTS - No also appeals. I've backed Bozhidar Kraev without much luck for Anytime Goalscorer at various stages this season, but the value remains, with the Bulgarian playmaker ranking in the top 15 for shots & shots on target this season.
  • Sydney are winless in four of their last five games
  • Sydney have failed to score in four of their last five games
  • Wanderers have won two of their last three games
  • Wanderers beat Sydney 1-0 in Round 6
  • BTTS - No has landed in nine of Sydney's last 10 games
  • BTTS - No has landed in seven of the Wanderers' last nine games
  • Wanderers' last three wins this season have been by a 1-0 score
  • Bozhidar Kraev ranks in the top 12 for shots this season & had a 8.1 rating with Flashscore when he faced the Wanderers in Round 6
  • Kraev registered a total of five shots last week vs Perth

Sydney FC vs WS Wanderers Head To Head

The Wanderers snapped a five-match winless run against Sydney in Round 6 this season, with Anthony Pantazopolous producing a man-of-the-match performance and Alex Kuol scoring the only goal of the game just after half-time.

Sydney FC Form Analysis

Sydney have registered a 7-1-5 record on the season, coming into this clash in fourth on the ladder.

It's been a dire recent run of form for the Sky Blues, but they remain just three points off the top of the table with a game in hand.

Ufuk Talay's side had a strong start to the campaign, but there's no surprise their dip in form has coincided with Joe Lolley succumbing to his troublesome hamstring injury.

Sydney have failed to score in four of their last five games and were humbled 4-0 in last week's Big Blue against Victory.

Western Sydney Wanderers Form Analysis

It's been a difficult season for the Wanderers, with the team compiling a 4-3-7 record and languishing in 11th spot on the ladder.

Alen Stajcic was given his marching orders as a result, with Gary Van Egmond taking charge until season's end.

There's been signs of a Wanderers resurgence over the last few weeks - they've beaten Victory 1-0 on the road and also edged out Perth 1-0 at home last week.

Scoring goals remains an issue - the Red & Black have only found the back of the net 11 times for the season, four off the next worst side. Fans will be hoping former Scottish international Ryan Fraser can provide some spark after the veteran winger scored the winning goal on debut last week.
