Mitch Moses' return made a world of difference all over the park for the Eels as they won the battle of the west against the Tigers before having an extra week to work on things before kicking off Magic Round.

The Sharks couldn’t do the same against Wests in Round 8, putting in another underdone performance which is why they are predicted to be vulnerable against the Eels. Parra could pinch this one but getting 5.5 points is the better option.

Cronulla’s attack has been letting them down, needing a lot of field position and tackles inside the opposition 20m to score points. With Mosses dictating the territory with his superior kicking game the Sharks are expected to struggle to get their chances thus fail to score over 26 points in the match.

Cronulla have been vulnerable on their line to opposing halves recently and with Dylan Brown focusing purely on his running game, expect the Eels five-eighth to cross.

  • Parramatta have won 3 of the last 5 against Cronulla losing by 4 points or less in their two losses since the 2020 season.
  • Cronulla are ranked 10th in the NRL in points scored (20.4/G) in their last 5 matches.
  • Mitchell Moses had 4 try assists and 3 linebreak assists in his return.
  • A half has scored 3 tries against Cronulla in their last 3 games.

Head to Head

Parramatta have the stronger record against Cronulla, winning 4 of the last 7 matches.

The Eels beat the Sharks 34-22 at Commabank Stadium last season after leading 16-10 at half time.

The Sharks haven’t been as dominant to start the season as Craig Fitzgibbon would have liked and they got what they deserved against the West Tigers in Round 8, which was a 20-18 loss.

Despite having more chances inside their opponents 20m the Sharks failed to capitalize highlighting their issue of poor try scoring efficiency in the red zone, failing to convert good field position into points.

Cronulla rank in the top three in run metres, tackles inside 20m and possession, however, are 10th in the NRL in points scored in their last 5 matches. Nicho Hynes and Braydon Trindall are unable to create and their set plays are too basic to break their opponents line.

You are only as good as your last performance and for the Eels it was a cracker, beating the Tigers 38-22.

Obviously, all eyes were on the return of NSW halfback Mitch Moses and he certainly didn't disappoint with 3 linebreak assists and 4 try assists along with taking the in-play kicking duties, which made the world of difference.

Moses took over the kicking duties from Dylan Brown which brought the best out of his five-eight’s game, with Brown running for 164 metres in the match, letting moses dictate the play.

The concern for the Eels is their pack, but even they lifted last match with the team running for 1415 metres, which is over 100 metres more than their season average.
