Rosehill Tips March 21

Race 1 - 12:20PM Midway Handicap Tips (1500m)

6. Bella Khadijah will need luck from a wide barrier, but in a very open race to kick off the Golden Slipper program, she profiles as an each-way chance.

Now third-up, she ran the fastest closing sectionals in a Provincial Qualifier at Newcastle on February 28, and this is easier than that and the BM78 on return. The extra 100m suits, and both wins have come on wet tracks.

11. Wild Thoughts was much too bad to be true second-up as a beaten favourite at Kembla and is a far more talented galloper than that run suggests, having shown ability last campaign and excuses first-up at Hawkesbury.

8. My Phar Lady is arguably the safest selection after a Rosehill Midway win on February 25 and has been thereabouts in all four runs this campaign.

14. Barrengarry steps out of maiden company, but I always like the Midway profile of a lightly raced three-year-old down in the weights.

Selections: 6-11-8-14.

Race 2 - 12:55PM Precise Air NE Manion Cup Tips (2400m)

1. Campaldino has built a strong record, completing a four-peat through autumn and early winter last year, including a Group 3 win before stretching to 3200m to take out the Brisbane Cup.

He returned solidly in the Parramatta Cup before relishing a strong tempo to win at Randwick a fortnight ago, and despite the weight rise, he remains a leading contender.

8. Juja Kibo comes through the same race and looks the main danger, especially with the weight swing in his favour, improving off his return and building toward a Sydney Cup.

15. Newlook is a bolter worth considering after a sound trial and return. The first Australian prep fell away after a good fresh run, but European imports often take a prep to acclimatise.

14. Mr Monaco faces a tougher task but did win third-up over this distance last campaign and drops 4.5kg from his last victory.

Selections: 1-8-15-14.

Race 3 - 1:30PM Bisley Workwear Epona Stakes Tips (1900m)

2. Pinito returned well when unsuited in the Millie Fox Stakes before proving too good in the Aspiration Quality a fortnight ago under James McDonald.

She rises to 1900m third-up, which looks ideal, and despite a wide draw being a query with the switch back to Rosehill, she meets a similar race and has proven wet track credentials.

14. Reflect is a big price stepping beyond a mile for the first time after a brave effort in the Kembla Grange Classic, where she covered ground and stuck on. Has always looked a stayer.

7. Polymnia is a consistent type who is often thereabouts and comes through the same race as Pinito. Has solid form lines from both her last prep and three-year-old season.

1. Machine Gun Gracie is an interesting runner, the WA Oaks and Derby winner who was fair on stable debut for the Hayes yard and should appreciate the rise in distance.

Selections: 2-14-7-1.

Race 4 - 2:05PM HKJC World Pool Darby Munro Stakes Tips (1200m)

10. Regal Award appeals at an each-way price first-up for Phillip Stokes, an in-form stable who so often fires when travelling, and while settling in his races was an issue last prep, he always showed ability.

1200m is perhaps short of his best, but he completed a searching workout when winning a March 3 jump-out, which suggests there's some intent here fresh.

2. Skyhook is a classy colt, and his recent trial win suggests he is ready to perform. He saluted at Rosehill first-up last prep when overcoming a slow speed and was then competitive in stronger company.

9. Caffe Florian improved through his first preparation, winning three straight after his debut. He was okay first-up despite racing keenly and can improve.

6. Wodeton has been costly in decent company and a wet track could be what he's searching for, with his debut romp coming on a Soft 7.

Selections: 10-2-9-6.

Race 5 - 2:40PM Ranvet Stakes Tips (2000m)

4. Aeliana should have won on this program last year before going on to win the Australian Derby and looks to be building back into form this campaign.

Her latest run was an improved effort second-up behind Autumn Glow, and 2000m now looks ideal, with the four-year-old appearing to have turned the corner since a spring that dropped off.

1. Sir Delius is the main danger, although faces a challenge to turn the tables this quickly on Aeliana, given the beaten margin a fortnight ago; however, 2000m suits, and he looked a potential star last spring.

3. Trinity College worked home well without threatening on Australian debut, which was effectively another trial, and is suited stepping up in distance here.

2. Lindermann maps well on speed in a small field and pulled up with excuses last start, but the main concern is if it's very testing ground.

Selections: 4-1-3-2.

Race 6 - 3:15PM Sky Racing Rosehill Guineas Tips (2000m)

2. Autumn Boy meets Observer again after defeating him in the Caulfield Guineas and comes through a strong Randwick Guineas, where he was no match behind a brilliant Sheza Alibi, but still put a big space on third.

He looks suited stepping to 2000m for the first time, and the Sydney form appears stronger than the Melbourne references of some of his main dangers.

1. Observer has won four straight since the Caulfield Guineas defeat, including the Australian Guineas, and is well placed at this trip, where he can control the race on speed.

3. Deal Done Fast brings form through Observer via the Victoria Derby and returned with a slashing performance in the Autumn Classic.

6. Federalist remains a maiden but was good behind Sixties last start and looks suited rising in distance on the seven-day turnaround.

Selections: 2-1-3-6.

Race 7 - 3:50PM The Agency George Ryder Stakes Tips (1500m)

8. Autumn Glow is chasing 11 straight wins and is clearly the one to beat, with her consistency across all conditions and race patterns making her difficult to oppose.

She has been bomb-proof regardless of tempo or conditions, and while the last two wins have come against building middle-distance/staying types, that could be nitpicking.

6. Linebacker is a big price and appeals each-way after a solid return in the Canterbury Stakes, where he was hampered early and hit the line well.

9. Lady Shenandoah has had two sound runs this prep with this distance in mind and now draws to get a better run.

4. Headley Grange ran the fastest last 400m and 200m of the Canterbury Stakes. Has a solid second-up profile along with a good Rosehill record.

Selections: 8-6-9-4.

Race 8 - 4:35PM TAB Golden Slipper Tips (1200m)

3. Guest House comes through the Blue Diamond, where there were excuses, and profiles as a runner with significant upside, having shown strong ability earlier in the campaign.

He looks well suited by a strong tempo and has reportedly thrived since arriving in Sydney, making him a major contender in an open Golden Slipper.

14. Chayan had excuses in the Blue Diamond before winning the Reisling Stakes, and that form has been a key lead-up into this race historically.

16. Pembrey backs up quickly but has shown ability, including a dominant debut win, and has shown more style than most of these.

12. Streisand arguably should be favourite after covering ground to win the Blue Diamond and has already twice had the measure of Chayan.

Selections: 3-14-16-12.

Race 9 - 5:15PM Kia Ora Galaxy Tips (1100m)

14. Grafterburners brings strong upside as a lightly raced sprinter who has won all four runs this campaign and has been targeted at this race fresh with a light weight.

He profiles well for The Galaxy, attacking this Group 1 handicap down in the weights, although this is still clearly his toughest ask to date.

1. Briasa is the class runner and was unlucky in this race last year before going on to win the TJ Smith Stakes. The last two campaigns suggest that early in a prep is the time to catch him, and the trials have been slick.

9. Ostraka is hard to catch but very capable on his day and is well placed here under handicap conditions. He maps for a soft run in transit.

13. Infancy is better than her price suggests, a mare that saluted first-up for us at huge odds last autumn when defeating Commemorative and Lady Laguna.

Selections: 14-1-9-13.

Race 10 - 5:55PM TAB Birthday Card Stakes Tips (1200m)

10. Inkaruna should have won first-up when held up at key stages and now drops in weight against her own sex, making this a suitable consolation, given she's likely to miss The Galaxy as the third emergency.

Her Caulfield win in spring reads strongly for this, comfortably beating My Gladiola before a spell, and she looks the one to beat despite the unknown on rain-affected ground.

9. Oui Oui Oui has always shown ability, and the penny is starting to drop. This may be a tick-over en route to the Provincial Final, but she's got genuine X-factor and should be respected.

4. Monte Supreme was just fair first-up in the Challenge Stakes and looks better suited here second-up back against her own sex.

14. Lady Extreme did not handle firm ground last start, but first-up, she ran the fastest closing sectionals of the entire February 7 card.

Selections: 10-9-4-14.
