Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 3 No. 5 Last Command

There’s plenty to like about the son of Tassort, who has been in good form since having his attentions turned to Brisbane earlier this prep.

Michael Freedman’s representative is the winner of two of his five starts this campaign, with his sole unplaced effort coming when finishing seventh at Randwick on return.

The pick’s recent efforts include victories in two of his last three starts, with both of those triumphs coming at this circuit.

The first of those wins saw him score by over a length contesting a 1400m Class 4 handicap on a Good 4 surface, before backing that up with a solid third at Doomben in a Class 5 over 1630m.

The four-year-old showed good acceleration in the straight on a Soft 5 surface last time and looks capable of registering his third win from as many starts at this venue.

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Slippin’ Jimmy

David Vandyke’s representative delivered a good effort in his first run back from a spell, placing third at this track on his penultimate start.

The gelding was beaten just over a length in a 1200m Benchmark 85 event on a Soft 6 surface on that occasion, jumping at big odds.

While he failed to back that effort up over 1400m here subsequently, it’s worth noting his rider dropped the whip with around 350m to run.

Despite being beaten nearly five lengths last time, the form has held up, with both the second and sixth going on to score at the Gold Coast last weekend.

The return to 1200m is a positive, with the gelding having won three of five starts at the trip, and he looks value to record his eighth career victory.

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 8 Zoufani

The four-year-old returned to action with an eighth-place finish over 1200m at Doomben last month, beaten two lengths.

The mare showed improvement second-up, finishing a good second in a Class 3 Plate over the same track and trip.

The daughter of Zousain went down narrowly at $21 that day and looks set to improve again third-up.

The form from that race has been franked, with both the winner Dominant Darcy and ninth-placed Alpha Bravo winning since.

Barrier eleven should not pose a major issue given her racing pattern, and with a Soft 5 surface no concern, she looks well placed to return to winning ways.

Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 7 No. 6 Chamierro

The four-year-old performed well earlier this season, registering three consecutive victories, including two at this venue.

The most recent of those wins saw him score by over two lengths over 1600m here in October at Benchmark 70 level on a Good surface.

He ended that prep with a fifth-place finish at Doomben in this grade before a break.

The gelding resumed over 1200m here two weeks ago and was never fully involved from midfield, finishing seventh, beaten just over five lengths on a Soft track.

Chris & Corey Munce’s representative typically improves second-up, and with a strong record at the distance, he appeals as a value runner with Martin Harley back aboard.
