Saturday’s Rosehill meeting features a strong ten-race card highlighted by the Group 1 Coolmore Classic.

The 1500m feature brings together a deep field of fillies and mares, while the supporting program includes several key autumn lead-ups, including the Ajax Stakes which offers ballot exemption into the Doncaster Mile.

Elsewhere, the Phar Lap Stakes adds further depth to the three-year-old ranks, while competitive fields across the program present several betting angles for punters. For the latest news, form and updates across the sport, visit our Live Racing & Sports Updates section.

Rosehill Tips March 14

Race 1 - 12:30PM Midway Handicap Tips (1200m)

13. Audrey's Lane has decent early prep stats, having never finished out of the money in three first-up attempts, while two of her three second-up runs have resulted in victories. She resumes here off two decent Warwick Farm trials in fairly hot heats.

On heavy ground she was pressured in the lead in her last Midway attempt before a break and stuck on fairly well considering, although anything past 1400m appears to test her, with 1200m–1400m clearly her right range.

9. Zaragoza was unlucky a fortnight back when returning to this level, held up at key stages before finding the line fairly well, and prior to a BM78 miss on January 24 he had caught the eye when placing in a Randwick Midway.

3. Mailata was BM78 placed at Wyong before a short break and the March 2 trial was sound.

1. African Daisy may be the blowout. She was a dual Midway winner last year and boasts a good fresh record.

Selections: 13-9-3-1.

Race 2 - 1:05PM Cactus Imaging Handicap Tips (1900m)

4. Tazima is a lightly raced import who could well head the market by jump time for the powerful James McDonald and Chris Waller combination. The five-year-old is suited stepping up in distance third-up after two solid runs to open the campaign.

He struck with a third-up win last preparation before recording two placings in this grade at Rosehill, and those form lines through Travolta and Juja Kibo read well enough for a race of this nature.

5. The Western Front is an interesting runner heading north from the Hayes yard after building nicely before recording a deserved third-up win at Cranbourne last start, and he did catch the eye in his only Sydney appearance last winter.

3. Unleashing was a false early favourite in last Saturday’s Aspiration Stakes and, while only fifth there, she had won her previous two attempts, including a victory in this grade on February 7.

6. Iceman is honest and, while this is tougher up from Midway level, he may appreciate stepping up to this longer trip.

Selections: 4-5-3-6.

Race 3 - 1:40PM Tresemme Magic Night Stakes Tips (1200m)

3. Pembrey is worth another chance after the Queensland filly bolted in on debut at Eagle Farm last month, a performance that warranted the trip south with a potential Golden Slipper bid in mind. She was beaten as favourite in the Sweet Embrace Stakes a fortnight ago, but there were excuses.

The youngster looked uncomfortable when held up in restricted room and was reluctant to take a gap, making it an inconclusive effort, and James McDonald now gets the chance to atone, with perhaps the wider draw a blessing here.

8. Zoo Dazzler could improve sharply at start two after being green on debut when the race shape worked against her, and she has since been given a solid workout in a trial win.

6. Wave Blaster is at massive odds but her debut was fair and she pulled up with cardiac arrhythmia after the Silver Slipper, so that effort can be forgiven.

10. Hellenic Belle is among the first starters in the market and showed improvement from her first trial to win her second heat comfortably.

Selections: 3-8-6-10.

Race 4 - 2:15PM TAB Pago Pago Stakes Tips (1200m)

5. Central Europe. Chris Waller’s only Golden Slipper winner Shinzo won this race in 2023 before backing up seven days later to land the major, and the stable could attempt a similar late path with Central Europe, who should have won the Skyline Stakes on debut.

He was badly held up at key stages of that February 28 race before charging late to just miss a stablemate while recording the fastest last 400m and 200m of the Group 2. Might be more effective over further, but that debut was hard to miss.

2. Warwoven also comes through the Skyline Stakes and was beaten just half a length into fourth there as an odds-on favourite, where he was in the worst ground. May have needed that given the gap between runs and was scratched as short favourite from the Magic Millions.

4. Outspan had excuses when unsuited by the race shape last start and also pulled up lame, but his prior form included a good debut fifth and a strong win here in January.

1. Star Of Jamaica brings the same Skyline Stakes form as the two market leaders and was brave there after working early.

Selections: 5-2-4-1.

Race 5 - 2:50PM Asahi Super Dry Sky High Stakes Tips (2000m)

1. Vauban is a once highly regarded import who failed to fire in two Melbourne Cup attempts before joining the Waterhouse and Bott yard ahead of last autumn. That preparation began with victory in this race when charging home from the rear.

He defeated Arapaho and Lindemann on that occasion and the form through the latter suggests he meets a weaker edition this year, while his lead-up trials have been solid ahead of the return.

5. Wootton Verni recorded back-to-back wins over this distance late last campaign, including a dominant Rosehill Cup victory, and gets James McDonald aboard on Saturday.

4. Soul Of Spain shares similar recent form lines with Wootton Verni and the pair have traded results across their last two clashes.

3. Just Fine is the likely leader and was far from disgraced first-up in the Parramatta Cup after a long spell. Nearly beat Ceolwulf second-up last prep.

Selections: 1-5-4-3.

Race 6 - 3:25PM Toyota Forklifts Maurice McCarten Stakes Tips (1100m)

4. King’s Secret resumes as a progressive sprinter from the Joe Pride yard, with six wins and four placings from just 11 starts. He won four of his last five last campaign and arguably would have made it five from five with better luck in the last fresh attempt.

The last Warwick Farm trial suggests he is ready to roll fresh and Private Eye's half-brother draws ideally from gate two over a distance that has suited him so well previously.

5. La Fracas also resumes after a very successful campaign that produced four wins before a fourth at Group 2 level down the Flemington straight. He’ll look to chime in late off a strong speed.

9. Tonkin was just touched off late first-up and could easily go one better with natural improvement from that run.

2. Kerguelen defeated Tonkin fresh with a clever ride that found the best ground late.

Selections: 4-5-9-2.

Race 7 - 4:00PM Chandon Phar Lap Stakes Tips (1500m)

1. Sixties must be the market elect on exposed form after showing improvement this preparation with back-to-back victories before finishing third in the Australian Guineas, where a mile may have stretched him.

This is an easier assignment, although the travel between Sydney and Melbourne across the campaign does present a query now deeper into the preparation.

13. Soverato is a stablemate of Sixties who showed plenty of merit when beaten as favourite at Rosehill last start following a very rare bad steer from J-Mac. The prior return triumph was excellent.

2. Shangri La Boy put in a poor run first-up, but the tongue tie going on could explain that (choked down). His spring form included back-to-back Rosehill wins and a narrow Group 1 defeat behind Attica.

4. Matias is long odds but not hopeless after improving with every run last campaign before winning the Group 3 Grand Prix in Brisbane.

Selections: 1-13-2-4.

Race 8 - 4:35PM Coolmore Classic Tips (1500m)

4. Verona Rose. The Melbourne trip at the end of spring appears to have really brought on Verona Rose, which can often happen with a lightly raced type travelling interstate. She took out the Inglis Bracelet on Oaks Day and had already shown above-average ability earlier in her career.

The four-year-old built off an eye-catching return this preparation when winning the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes and the extra 100m here should suit third-up, while Craig Williams stays aboard with a strong record on the mare.

5. Arctic Glamour often produces her best early in a preparation and showed that again when charging home with the fastest closing sectionals in the Guy Walter Stakes. Beat all bar Yorkshire second-up last campaign.

14. Cilacap is a Victorian visitor who appears to have had this race as the target this preparation and she drops right down in the weights with 51kg. Going better than her recent form suggests and the rise in trip is ideal.

6. Ole Dancer was one run short in the Surround Stakes, which followed a decent return with excuses, and the Thousand Guineas winner should strip fitter here.

Selections: 4-5-14-6.

Race 9 - 5:15PM Hyland Race Colours Ajax Stakes Tips (1500m)

7. Enxuto. Plenty rides on the Ajax Stakes with the winner earning ballot exemption into the Doncaster Mile and Enxuto could have the right set-up with 53kg and a low draw. He was solid again when runner-up in the Blamey Stakes last start after a good return at Flemington.

The Victorian has strong references through Sabaj, including a third-up second last time in before a competitive effort in The Ingham during his last Sydney appearance.

1. Globe has drawn wide with speed drawn inside, which makes the map tricky, although his lead-up trial suggests he has returned well and the once-hyped galloper turned a corner last campaign.

6. Lord Penman did enough when winning first-up and should have improvement to come second-up with a Doncaster Mile in mind.

8. Cristal Clear could be wound up to run well fresh given a Doncaster ticket and has looked forward in recent trial work.

Selections: 7-1-6-8.

Race 10 - 5:55PM Schweppes Handicap Tips (1400m)

14. Modella remains lightly raced with just 10 starts and has been placed aggressively in strong races, including a midfield finish in the Golden Eagle last spring. That effort was better than it looked given the strength of the race.

She returned in the Millie Fox Stakes and, aside from Pinito, who franked the form last week, her run was the pick of the off-speed brigade in that Group 2. Better placed back to a BM88 and her trials suggested she would need that fresh hit-out.

2. Perfumist carries a big weight but has class and her trial work indicates she is forward enough. Has two wins and two placings from four 1400m attempts and the last prep form through Idle Flyer is superb reading for this level.

11. Captain Furai overcame trouble when winning in easier company last start and carries 2.5kg less here. Honest and will have admirers with the Waller and J-Mac factor.

18. Amreekiyah rediscovered her turn-of-foot when defeating Sovereign Hill last start and appears suited at 1400m with a gap between runs.

Selections: 14-2-11-18.
