Natasha Stakes Tips (Race 4)

Ascot Value Bet - Race 4 No. 4 Chino Bay

The Natasha Stakes is one of the key lead-ups to the WA Oaks, which will be contested in a fortnight’s time.

It is a tougher assignment at start five for Chino Bay, although the Stephen Miller-trained filly has hardly put a hoof wrong so far.

After a stylish debut victory in December, she followed that by producing the race-fastest closing sectionals in an Ascot Class 1 before heading for a break.

She returned on February 18 behind the flying Searchin’ Times, where the 1300m trip proved a touch sharp.

We were with the three-year-old when she saluted at a big price last start at Pinjarra and, like that debut success, her ability to quicken and show a turn-of-foot from off the speed in a slowly run race was impressive.

Peters Investments Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Ascot Best Bet - Race 7 No. 10 Western Lady

Western Lady is a half-sister to Western Empire, a 10-time stakes winner whose highlight was the Group 1 Railway Stakes triumph in 2021.

She is a short price here but, in what appears a weak affair, she may simply get away with it.

The four-year-old produced a somewhat unexpected but stylish return victory on February 11.

The daughter of Toronado was then narrowly defeated as runner-up when well backed at Bunbury last week.

That was another strong closing performance and, with the quick turnaround, the drop to One Metro Win company and the rise in distance third-up, Western Lady appears to have more upside than her rivals.

Schweppes - J.C. Roberts Stakes Tips (Race 9)

Ascot Feature Bet - Race 9 No. 4 Sentimental Legend

The Listed Lex Piper Stakes on February 28 shapes as the key form reference for the J.C. Roberts Stakes, although it is not the easiest race to assess.

Crimson Pirate won that event comfortably and is a deserving favourite, while Aberdeen Flyer was the sectional horse to follow and now gets the rise in distance.

Dominatus was also well supported that day, but the performance looked too bad to be true.

Sentimental Legend arrives here as the fresh horse on the scene, the Williams-trained galloper having won two of his three starts.

He atoned for a first-up defeat as a short favourite by bolting in at Belmont on March 4 and, while he did not beat much there, the confidence boost may see him go on with it as the distances increase towards the WATC Derby.

Croser Sparkling Handicap Tips (Race 10)

Ascot Roughie - Race 10 No. 8 Don't Trust Judas

Don't Trust Judas has been in consistent touch for most of the season, highlighted by a December 26 victory at Pinjarra.

Two good efforts followed that success, including a solid performance over this track-and-trip on January 17.

He then finished runner-up eight days later, continuing a solid run of form.

His last two starts can be forgiven, including a February 14 run at Pinjarra where Don't Trust Judas finished tenth-of-12 after being badly held up in the home straight.

He again struck traffic when returning to Ascot seven days later but still produced the fastest last 200m of that 60+ contest, suggesting he can give this open race a shake at each-way odds.
