Caulfield Betting Tips for March 14, 2026 - Best Bets for VOBIS Day

Avenel Equine VOBIS Gold Distaff Tips (Race 4)
Caulfield Value Bet - Race 4 No. 7 Teine Aulelei
It was a solid return in the Inglis Sprint at Flemington from Teine Aulelei, who was specked at a price in that straight-track feature.
While yet to salute at 1400m, her one try over the distance produced a second to the potential superstar Sheza Alibi, which is superb reading for any race, let alone a VOBIS affair against her own sex.
Prior to that Sheza Alibi clash, she was luckless at Listed level on Cox Plate Day at The Valley.
She then just came to the end of it via an even November 15 performance here at Caulfield.
The filly has a great turn-of-foot and, while she will need the breaks from a low draw, Teine Aulelei has the brilliance to take this out with even luck.
Barastoc Country Mile Series Final Tips (Race 6)
Caulfield Roughie - Race 6 No. 11 Inherently
This looks a bit of a set-up for Inherently on the quick turnaround third-up from Warrnambool on Monday.
That came back at 1400m after resuming over a mile at Ballarat on February 22, where he was good late with a big weight.
Off those first two performances to open the campaign, Inherently is now right down in the weights with 54kg.
The lightly raced country galloper has found a new lease of life under Pat McKenna, who picked him up for just $2,750 after two inauspicious starts under Mark Kavanagh.
He is not going to get many chances to look at a $200,000 race, so this clearly would have been the target and, in an open affair, he can give this a shake at an each-way quote.
Sportsbet Peter Young Stakes Tips (Race 8)
Caulfield Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 2 Buckaroo
Buckaroo was scratched from last Saturday’s All-Star Mile, so it will be interesting to see what the market does late, given there was a slight setback.
Happy to trust the Waller camp here with Buckaroo, who appears on an Australian Cup path.
While he is not a prolific winner, it is worth noting that three of his five career victories have come second-up, so this could well be the time to catch him.
The Futurity Stakes resumption here on February 21 was a cracker, and his last victory came over this track and trip in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes back in 2024.
He has been very consistent at the top end since then and, when attempting to defend that Underwood title last year, he was runner-up and beaten only by Sir Delius, who was arguably the best horse in the country at the time.
The IRT VOBIS Platinum Guineas Tips (Race 9)
Caulfield Best Bet - Race 9 No. 12 Salty Pearl
Salty Pearl is as honest as they come and the Ciaron Maher-trained filly looks to follow the same pattern she did last spring when backing up seven days from the Thousand Guineas to win at Group 2 level at Moonee Valley.
She is on the seven-day turnaround here after the Quezette Stakes third behind a flying Sass Appeal in a race that was not run to suit.
Second-up prior to that at Caulfield, she ran into the smart Sheza Alibi.
There was around a month between runs there after a third-place finish on return over 1200m, so a peak run now appears to be looming.
The grey proved in that last victory that she can settle closer to the speed and looks well placed to peak here, although the very talented Different Gravy profiles as the obvious danger, despite an awkward set-up fresh.
Yulong VOBIS Gold Sprint Tips (Race 10)
Caulfield Next Best Bet - Race 10 No. 1 Jigsaw
It is perhaps a touch surprising that Jigsaw is not shorter.
He is a flying seven-year-old from the Cindy Alderson stable who has turned around the fortunes of this veteran sprinter and is now in career-best touch.
The winning streak started at Cranbourne on October 10 when beating Hedged, form that continues to stand up, while victories followed in the McEwen Stakes and again at Cranbourne.
Following a freshen-up, Jigsaw then saluted at Group 1 level in New Zealand on January 24, and there are decent Australian references there through Arkansaw Kid, who is more than capable.
He arrives on the fresh side again given the travel back here, but the February 25 trial on the Heath circuit looked sharp and, as the only logical leader, he only needs to hold his form to prove hard to catch once again.
