He takes the reins on In Circles, a Joe Pride-trained filly who was brave without luck on debut at Hawkesbury when covering ground throughout the run.

She finished a narrow runner-up to Infant Warrior, who brought race fitness into that February 19 clash and also enjoyed a more economical run.

The pair cleared right out from the rest of their opposition in that 1000m maiden, highlighting the strength of that form reference.

With natural improvement from that debut effort and a few more favours in running, she looks capable of going one better on Friday.

Newcastle Value Bet - Race 3 No. 7 Peace At Last

Peace At Last is still very much a work in progress for trainer Edward Cummings as the three-year-old continues to develop with racing.

She has shown raw ability in both appearances so far, including a debut third behind the smart Just Maz.

That form received a timely boost on Wednesday when Just Maz franked it with another convincing victory.

Winkers go on following a fourth-place finish here on February 14 when the filly was beaten at a short quote.

Getting over more ground should suit now, and the booking of senior rider Dylan Gibbons is another positive at start three.

There were excuses via a fair Randwick-Kensington resumption on January 21 when beaten just over two lengths on a Soft 7 surface.

The four-year-old is generally a more effective performer when racing on top of the ground rather than on rain-affected tracks.

She showed clear improvement second-up when rattling home strongly at Hawkesbury.

In the process, Spaceballs recorded the fastest last 200m of that entire program.

That was her first start for the Jason Deamer stable, and with the mare remaining against her own sex for this third-up assignment, she is well placed again.

Newcastle Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 6 West Of Africa

The Group 3 Newcastle Stakes shapes as a very open feature on Friday’s program.

One of the each-way contenders in the race is West Of Africa, a very capable horse when right.

He was only fair last time out when finishing midfield at Randwick over the mile, but those in the money were down in the weights.

A return to 1400m on the fresh side with winkers applied while also dropping down in the weights makes him dangerous here.

The big Newcastle circuit will suit the Archibald-trained galloper and the wider rally also works in his favour given his racing pattern.
