Ule Hoof Oil Handicap Tips (Race 2)
Morphettville Best Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Intellectual
The experienced Noel Callow is a handy addition to the South Australian jockey ranks this season, and among his leading chances on Saturday's program is Intellectual.
Prior to a spell, he did put in a bit of a head-scratching effort as a beaten favourite on February 21, albeit that race was taken out by a slick Mathematician, and this gelding has trialled sharply since when taking out a Mindarie-Halidon heat in very fast time for the July 16 set.
Also, his prior form before that last-start failure was consistent, with a win and two seconds from his first three appearances, including a debut victory earlier in the season when defeating Snow Mercy.
She turned the tables on Intellectual a fortnight later before taking out a Group 3 in Melbourne, while he was only narrowly beaten by Violet Lovebug via his February 7 resumption, with that filly winning three of her four starts over summer.
Intellectual finds a very winnable Class 2 assignment for his Saturday resumption, and he has the tactical speed to be put into the race from barrier seven under Callow.
Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Morphettville Value Bet - Race 5 No. 6 Extinguish
While there is a wide draw to overcome, it's still a touch surprising an each-way quote is available for Extinguish.
The mare is likely to roll forward under Todd Pannell, who was aboard for her back-to-back wins in December, which included a victory over this track-and-trip when third-up.
Pannell was also in the saddle for the June 20 resumption, where she put the writing on the wall with a slashing run over an unsuitable 1200m, with the daughter of Proisir rattling home with the fastest last 200m of the entire program.
While she had to settle for second as favourite last time out, that July 11 performance was still a pass mark after settling outside the leader, with the eventual winner able to capitalise from the box-seat position, and there's still improvement to come.
While her winning form has come on good tracks, she also hasn't finished outside of the placings on rain-affected ground, including both heavy-track appearances this campaign, so whatever the surface throws up shouldn't matter for Extinguish.
Jockey Celebration Day Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Morphettville Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Nextonixs
A lightly raced sprinter from the Jolly & Potter yard, Nextonixs has been consistent throughout her career with four wins and four placings from 11 appearances.
She was only twice out of the money last season, with the latest coming when giving a sight for fourth at Listed level over the Oakbank Carnival, where 1100m may have just seen her out late, although the daughter of Tassort still gave a good account of herself on the speed.
The mare arrives for Saturday's resumption off a trial win on July 19, where she comfortably accounted for the useful Extremely Rowdy.
Nextonixs brings an excellent record on the Parks track, with three of her four career victories coming over this track and distance, including a stronger race on February 28, while she also recorded placings here either side of that success over the Parks 1000m.
2kg claimer Alysha Warren has options from a good draw, where she can either press forward if the lead presents itself or take a sit behind Bristler, Xanthron and Real Deluxe, who look the main on-speed opposition.
The Fotobase Group Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Morphettville Roughie - Race 9 No. 5 The Cosmic One
The late betting drift on July 11 was notable, and The Cosmic One ran accordingly, never letting down on the Heavy 9 surface after travelling comfortably behind the leaders in the 1250m contest won by the seasoned Cool Magnum.
The Travis Doudle-trained galloper looked a horse going places through his three previous appearances, having been heavily backed on debut earlier in the season in a race he arguably wins with more favours after drawing wide over 1050m.
He then saluted on the Parks circuit before a break and returned with an easy Class 1 victory at Balaklava on June 26, taking out the six-furlong contest despite still being a little green.
Although it's not going to be a firm track, it also won't be anywhere near as testing as it was last time out.
The Cosmic One could be even more effective over a touch further, but with another soft map and an each-way price available in what is arguably a slightly weaker race, he's worth another chance.
