Belmont Best Bet - Race 1 No. 5 Want A Winner
It was a disappointing result first-up as a beaten favourite for Want A Winner, with the Casey-trained entire racing very fiercely and William Pike unable to get him to settle.
That took away his finishing dash in the July 18 attempt and, at the very least, some freshness should have subsided with that hit-out under the belt, which followed a good trial win over the handy Twisted Steel.
It's also worth noting that the return came on a Soft 7, with testing ground having proven an issue previously, as his biggest defeat came on a Heavy 9 last winter.
Underfoot conditions will be in his favour on firmer going this Saturday and, in the smaller field, don't be surprised if "The Wizard" lets the five-year-old stride forward and settle into a comfortable rhythm, with no obvious leaders engaged.
Pre-race earmuffs have been applied, and Want A Winner certainly has the talent to turn things around on Saturday.
William Pike - Jockey 25/26 Handicap Tips (Race 2)
Belmont Favourite - Race 2 No. 5 In Confidence
After a good return from a long spell on June 20 over 1060m, In Confidence progressed nicely second-up when landing the cash for us on July 18, letting down strongly over six furlongs to take out the last on the program.
The trial work leading into this preparation suggested she would continue to improve with racing, and there's no reason why the daughter of King's Legacy can't at least hold her touch on Saturday, where she again carries 56kg in a field lacking depth.
Her main threat is Diamonds'n'rubies, an in-form on-speed galloper who has led throughout to win her past two starts, but In Confidence appears to have a little more upside.
Also, the rise to 1400m is unlikely to trouble her on Saturday.
While her last two victories have both come on Soft 7 tracks, she was a debut winner on a Good 4 and also resumed on top of the ground this campaign, so she appears adept on any underfoot conditions.
MC Polytrack Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Belmont Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Sherpa Express
Looking somewhat the obvious does Sherpa Express, who resumes in a One Metro Win affair.
There may have been a setback given he trialled on January 19 before not being seen again until July 20, where he produced a workmanlike showing.
Potential was evident through four runs across his first two campaigns before progressing nicely for a start-two breakthrough at Northam last winter, while he was only picked off by Luana Miss when resuming at Listed level on November 15.
That campaign ended with a third-place finish in the Listed Lee Steere Classic on Winterbottom Stakes Day, where he made good ground from back in the field and recorded the fastest last 400m of the entire Ascot program despite the race favouring those on speed.
They are very easy form lines to warm to in this company, and it'll be interesting to see what the market does late.

Belmont Value Bets - Race 8 No. 2 Starwalker & No. 12 Proportrait
In a weak finale, Starwalker and Proportrait are two runners at double-figure prices who can figure.
Although he's likely to peak a little later in the preparation, especially once he gets over even further, Starwalker is still suited by getting to the mile third-up on Saturday, where the six-year-old also drops sharply in grade after two winter assignments to begin the campaign.
The July 4 resumption was a good one when outperforming a monster starting price, and his 60+ form around this distance range in spring reads well enough for a race of this nature, while the 2kg claim for Chanelle Cooper provides some weight relief.
If you ignore the strike rate, Proportrait is going really well after placing without much luck first-up before being narrowly beaten when in the inferior ground on June 10.
While well held in third at his latest appearance, it was still a solid effort in a Class 3 won by Western Miss, who franked the form with a Saturday Benchmark 59 victory next start, and he can roll forward in a race lacking early speed.
