Grafton Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 4 Mofeed

The four-year-old showed up well in maiden company early last year, finishing in the first three in all five starts.

The son of Akeed Mofeed’s final start of 2024 saw him beaten less than half-a-length into second when jumping at short odds at Ballina in March of that year.

The gelding was off the track for over fourteen months subsequently and he showed up well in a Gold Coast trial ahead of his return to action at Scone last month.

Mofeed came home over two-and-a-half-lengths when contesting a 1000m maiden on his first start for trainer Jordan Lee on that occasion.

That Scone success saw the gelding race from the front, having jumped from next to the rail when racing on a Soft 7 surface.

While he made all that day, Mofeed has performed well when ridden with more restraint in the past and jumping from barrier ten, he is taken to complete a double.

South Grafton Ex-Serviceman’s Club Class 1 & Maiden Showcase Plate Tips (Race 5)

Grafton Best Bet - Race 5 No. 4 So You Ready

Kristen Buchanan’s representative showed ability in maiden company, including when fifth over 1600m at Wyong earlier this month.

The gelding raced on heavy going that day and has since demonstrated improvement stepped up in distance, including when successful at Gosford last month.

So You Ready came home three lengths clear of his rivals when contesting a similar race to this.

A bold mid-race move proved vital on that occasion and he went on to prove that effort was no fluke when runner-up in a similar contest at Scone last time.

He was overhauled late on when racing on a Soft 5 surface that day and So You Ready has underfoot conditions to suit in this contest.

Aaron Bullock rode last time out and the gun hoop stays aboard on Sunday.

Grafton Toyota South Grafton Cup Tips (Race 6)

Grafton Feature Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Headley Grange

The son of Exosphere demonstrated good progression last prep, winning twice prior to ending that prep with two second-place finishes.

The most recent of those second-place finishes saw Headley Grange lose out by a narrow margin in a 1400m Benchmark 100 handicap at Rosehill.

The four-year-old has raced on wet tracks in both starts this time around, winning on each occasion, including when resuming at Randwick last month.

He got home by nearly a length when contesting a 1300m Benchmark 94 handicap that day and a number of those in behind that day have performed well since.

Headley Grange went on to complete a double when stepped up to Listed company at Randwick just over three weeks ago.

The gelding raced from mid-division that day and with similar tactics expected here, he's taken to book his place in November’s Big Dance with a victory here.

Donovan Livestock & Property Country Boosted Benchmark 66 Showcase Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Grafton Value Bet - Race 7 No. 3 To Be Frank

The New Zealand-bred gelding has built up a good rapport with jockey Siena Grima, with the pair winning two of their three starts together.

All three of those efforts have come on wet tracks, with the sole defeat coming when jumping at $71 for a metro event at Rosehill at the end of May.

To Be Frank registered a highly creditable effort in finishing just over five lengths back in sixth when contesting a 1500m Class 3 on that occasion.

The son of Almanzor’s only subsequent start saw him return to winning ways when successful by a narrow margin over 1400m at Tamworth last month.

He travelled well into the race having been positioned in mid-division that day and the extra distance here is no issue.

Sue Grills’ gelding has yet to race at this venue, but he arrives here in good form and To Be Frank looks value to record his fourth win of the year.
