Switzerland and Canada clash in a pivotal World Cup Group B match at BC Place, Vancouver, with the winner set to secure the top spot and a favorable knockout path. Switzerland are slight favorites thanks to their strong form and solid defense, having gone unbeaten in 16 of their last 18 major tournament group games. Canada impressed with a 6-0 win over Qatar but face injury issues, including the loss of Ismael Kone. The recommended tip is a Switzerland win with under 2.5 goals, and Dan Ndoye is highlighted as a player likely to score.

Switzerland vs Canada World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Switzerland and Canada square off at the World Cup on Wednesday at BC Place in Vancouver, with the winner set to top Group B and potentially receive a more favourable path in the knockout phase.

Switzerland got their World Cup campaign up and running in emphatic fashion in their last outing, firing four goals past Bosnia & Herzegovina, meaning they've now gone unbeaten in 16 of their last 18 group stage games at major tournaments. It was a much-improved performance in the final third after the Swiss blew countless chances in a draw with Qatar and they look like favourites here in my eyes.

Canada have huge incentive to top the group as that means they can remain in Vancouver for the start of the knockout phase and they should be hugely confident following a thumping 6-0 victory over a hapless Qatari side, with star striker Jonathan David scoring a hat-trick - although the victory was soured by a horror broken leg sustained by Ismael Kone.

That was Canada's first ever victory at a World Cup, but I'm still not convinced by the Canucks and Alphonso Davies remains sidelined nursing a hamstring strain. The Swiss are traditionally so tough to break down and I don't think the Canadians have the firepower to topple them.

Switzerland to win with Under 2.5 goals is the play, while Nottingham Forest winger Dan Ndoye has been one of the standout players at the World Cup so far, registering a total of 10 shots on goal and multiple on target across his opening two games - he looks good value to find the back of the net.
  • Switzerland have won nine of their last 15 games
  • Switzerland are unbeaten in 16 of their last 18 group games at major tournaments
  • Canada are winless in their last three games vs European nations
  • Canada have seen Under 2.5 goals in 10 of their last 12 games
  • Dan Ndoye scored in seven of his last 11 internationals ahead of the World Cup & has tallied 10 shots in total across his opening two games

Switzerland vs Canada Head To Head

Canada won the only previous meeting 1-0 all the way back in 2002.

Switzerland Form Analysis

It was a disappointing start for Switzerland as they peppered the Qatar goal, but couldn't secure all three points, settling for a 1-1 draw after a late 1-1 draw and following Breel Embolo's strike from the penalty spot.

Murat Yakin’s side bounced back strongly with a 4-1 dispatch of Bosnia & Herzegovina, all but assuring their place in the Round of 32.

Johan Manzambi has been a super sub this World Cup and came off the bench to score a brilliant brace, while Granit Xhaka sealed the win via the penalty spot. Dan Ndoye had another sensational game on the wing and almost scored a magical overhead kick.

Switzerland Team News

Manzambi might be in contention for a start after his brilliant performances off the bench.

Denis Zakaria and Nico Elvedi are both on yellow cards and will need to be careful if they get the nod to start this one.

Canada Form Analysis

Canada were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina in their opening game, but sprung to life in their second Group B clash against Qatar.

It was a rampant display from Jesse Marsch's side as they ran in six goals and kept a clean sheet, with Jonathan David scoring a hat-trick. Cyle Larin also became the first player from CONCACAF since Clint Dempsey to score in back-to-back World Cup games.

It was a dominant performance, with Canada having a whopping 97 touches in the box, 26 more than the next-best side at this World Cup.

Canada Team News

Ismael Kone is obviously out of this game and the remainder of the tournament after suffering a sickening broken leg against Qatar.

Derek Cornelius and Luc de Fougerolles are both on yellow cards and might not be risked.

Switzerland are tipped for all three points in a game that sees Under 2.5 goals, with Ndoye a good shout to find the back of the net.
