Scotland vs Brazil World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Scotland's lack of quality up front could cost them

Scotland are on the verge of their first knockout appearance at a major tournament but face an uphill battle against five-time champions Brazil. Scotland’s inability to create and finish chances, highlighted by just five shots on target in their last five tournament games, makes a positive result unlikely. Meanwhile, Brazil are not in top form but still record more shots, recently defeating Haiti 3-0. The recommendation is a Brazil win to nil, with Matheus Cunha as a strong candidate to score. Live streaming details are available via bet365.

Scotland vs Brazil World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Scotland are on the cusp of a first knockout appearance at a major tournament, but face a tough assignment against five-time World Cup champions Brazil at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Wednesday.

It could be a nervous wait for Scotland and the Tartan Army as they chase that aforementioned maiden spot in the knockout phase of a major tournament. A point against Brazil would almost certainly be enough, but from what I've seen from the Scots so far this tournament, they will be lucky to come away with a positive result here.

Under the pragmatic Steve Clarke, Scotland failed to register a single shot on target against Morocco, going behind after 70 seconds and never really looking like getting back into the contest. Scotland were also out-shot by Haiti in their opening game and now have just five shots on target in their last five outings at major tournaments, going back to Euro 2024, where they barely threatened in three group matches.

Brazil meanwhile aren't firing on all cylinders either - in fact, their average of 10 shots per game is their lowest at a World Cup since 1966. After a 1-1 draw with Morocco, Brazil got back on track with a routine 3-0 win over Haiti, with Matheus Cunha coming into the starting side and grabbing a brace.

I think Cunha is good value at $3.10 with Picklebet to find the back of the net again - he should retain his spot in the starting side, with Raphinha suffering a hamstring injury. I'd love Scotland to score and make a match of this, but I just don't see it happening - they just can't create in the final third and lack a quality striker. Take BTTS - No and Brazil to win this game to nil, punching their ticket to the knockout phase and condeming the Scots to a nervous wait to see if they are amongst the eight best third-ranked teams.
  • Scotland failed to register a shot on target vs Morocco
  • Scotland have just five shots on target in their last five games at major tournaments
  • Four of Brazil's last five wins in competitive games have been to nil
  • Scotland are winless in their last eight games vs South American nations, losing six
  • Scotland have failed to score in their last three defeats
  • Brazil have won eight of the 10 previous meetings between the nations
  • Matheus Cunha scored a double vs Haiti & should start in this clash
  • Brazil have scored exactly two goals in their last two wins over Scotland

Scotland vs Brazil Head To Head

Brazil are unbeaten in the 10 previous encounters, winning eight and three of the four previous World Cup meetings, including a 2-1 triumph at France 1998.

Scotland Form Analysis

It's unfortunately more of the same for Scotland after they crashed out of Euro 2024 at the group stage without ever really threatening.

A deflected strike from John McGinn was enough for Scotland to secure their first World Cup win since 1990, but they were hanging on for dear life late into that game against Haiti and weren't convincing at all.

It was a nightmare start for Steve Clarke's side as they fell behind after 70 seconds against Morocco, who knew they could hold on for the win against a Scottish team that lack class and the ability to create chances in the final third.

Scotland Team News

Scott McKenna, Aaron Hickey and Lewis Ferguson are all carrying knocks and could be in doubt for this clash.

Ben Gannon-Doak was amongst Scotland's best against Haiti, but was forced to start on the bench against Morocco. Scott McTominay remains crucial to Scotland's chances and is the side's best hope up front.

Brazil Form Analysis

It hasn't been the best start to the World Cup for record champions Brazil and they might even have to settle for second spot in Group C even if they win this match - but that's only if Morocco put a big score on Haiti.

After drawing 1-1 with Morocco in their opening game, Brazil did what they needed to do in order to secure a 3-0 victory over Haiti, scoring all three goals before half-time.

Matheus Cunha started and scored a brace, while Vinicius Jr netted his second goal of this World Cup after also bagging the equaliser against Morocco.

Brazil Team News

Raphinha has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, meaning 19-year-old Rayan from Bournemouth could feature here.

Cunha should retain his starting spot after two goals against Haiti. Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Neymar is 'available' for selection, but it's unlikely he will be risked from the start here.
