Caulfield Best Bet - Race 3 No. 6 Thebelmontgangster
Thebelmontgangster was plain at his second Australian start, but that October 15 miss is forgivable, with the Freedman camp spelling the gelding straight after.
It’s worth noting he was still building there from a near 12-month absence, having been sold to Australia after an Irish breakthrough win in October 2024.
His jump-out work suggests he is ready to go fresh, including his latest effort on March 16, where he made ground.
It’s hard to ignore the debut victory form from September 24 when defeating Observer, with that runner-up unlucky in the Caulfield Guineas before winning his next four starts, including two at Group 1 level.
Ideally, the Caulfield track plays as it has been, with the middle and wider lanes in play, which brings Thebelmontgangster right into this in what looks a weak race to kick off his prep.
Jack Elliott Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Caulfield Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 8 Extragalactic
1000m to 1200m is never straightforward early in a prep, however Extragalactic looks a filly with a big future.
It was hard not to be impressed with her March 12 return victory at Pakenham when putting a 3.5-length margin on a useful BM62 field.
That effort followed encouraging jump-out work, and she showed above-average ability in her first campaign.
With any luck, she would’ve saluted on debut, but quickly atoned with a Bairnsdale breakthrough and was then tried at Listed level before a spell.
The 2kg claim from Luke Cartwright takes her down to 52.5kg, which is 5kg less than her fresh assignment, and against her own age and sex, she looks very dangerous if the middle and wider lanes are in play.

Caulfield Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Immediacy
Immediacy has had three very testing runs to open his 2026 campaign, with a freshen-up between runs looking a positive given the work he’s done.
He covered ground in the Australian Cup Prelude last time and was completely unsuited by the pattern of that race and meeting.
While plain here second-up, that followed a strong effort when just missing for us at Group 3 level behind Light Infantry Man.
That form has been franked, with that galloper going on to win the Group 1 Australian Cup last Saturday.
He’s not always the easiest to catch, but 2000m on a dry track is the right recipe, and he brings solid Caulfield form to a winnable, albeit open, Easter Cup.
Sportsbet Victoria Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Caulfield Value Bet - Race 9 No. 16 Saban
Saban bounced back to the winner’s stall with a pair of 1800m Sandown Hillside victories to end his last campaign.
He is more than capable of producing a fresh run over seven furlongs, as seen with an arrogant Flemington return win in the 2024 spring.
His lead-up work has been sound ahead of Saturday’s return, with two Pakenham jump-outs completed, and he caught the eye in the latest.
Saban will furnish over a little more ground later in the campaign, but is mainly long odds here due to the depth of the field, most of whom are suited at the trip.
At a big price in the penultimate, he still has claims, with Zac Spain sticking from the most recent workout.
Noel Rundle Handicap Tips (Race 10)
Caulfield Favourite - Race 10 No. 9 Gold Medallist
She won all four starts in her first campaign, which ended with a metro victory at Sandown over 1400m.
That is the distance she remains unbeaten at from four attempts.
The rise in trip looked key when third-up on March 21, where Gold Medallist let down strongly despite racing in inferior ground.
With the 3kg claim bringing her in at a similar impost for a race that's only slightly stronger, the daughter of Pierata appears well placed to go on with it.
Also respecting Give Me Space at a big price, with the setup a little tricky, but it could work if the wide pattern is favoured, and he did put the writing on the wall second-up for the new yard.
