Eagle Farm Tips April 4

Souths Sports Club QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap Tips (Race 1)

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 1 Ever So Ready

Ever So Ready was a $55,000 yearling purchase last year and showed up well in barrier trials prior to making his race debut.

Those trials resulted in two third-place finishes, leading to the colt jumping as a $2.05 favourite in a 1200m Gold Coast maiden.

Facing five rivals, the juvenile was well away and made all the running to score by over one-and-a-half lengths on a Good 4 surface.

Spelled after that effort, the son of Better Than Ready resumed over 1000m here two weeks ago without a public trial and performed well on a Soft 5 track when finishing second.

With improvement expected second-up and the step to 1300m in his favour, Ever So Ready gets a 2kg claim through Jace McMurray and looks well placed to concede weight.

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Neil

Neil, a son of Headwater, recorded the third win of his career when scoring by over a length at Randwick in August.

That victory came in a Class 2 handicap over 1100m on a Heavy 10 surface before a spell.

Resuming at Doomben in February, the four-year-old finished sixth when beaten just over eight lengths.

Improvement followed at his next start when returning to Randwick, finishing second in a 1000m Class 3 handicap after leading before being overhauled late.

Freshened since that effort, Neil handles soft ground, has placed over this track and trip, and despite a wide draw, shapes as a value chance with Ryan Maloney aboard.

Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 7 No. 2 Cho Oyu

Cho Oyu, prepared by Barry Lockwood and Emma-Jane Vincent, has been in good form this season with two wins from four starts.

The preparation began with a two-length victory in a 1200m Benchmark 70 at Beaudesert in December.

After a break, the gelding returned to metro grade with a solid third placing in a Class 5 at Doomben over 1350m.

Form from that race has held up well, with the second and fifth both winning at their next starts.

Cho Oyu then returned to winning form at this track over 1400m two weeks ago and is well placed to complete a double stepping up in trip.

Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 8 No. 7 Superhero

Superhero ended 2025 with a narrow victory over 1300m at Kembla Grange in a Class 1 handicap.

Resuming this preparation, the four-year-old finished a close second in a Class 3 at Doomben over 1200m.

That form has since been strengthened, with the fourth and sixth placegetters both winning subsequently.

Last start at the same venue, Superhero disappointed when finishing last of eight over 1350m, but cardiac arrhythmia was detected post-race.

Forgiving that effort, the son of Deep Field handles 1400m, draws well, and has proven competitive on soft ground, making him a knockout chance.
