Belmont Tips September 12
40 Year Record Holder Brava Mento Tips (Race 3)
Belmont Favourite - Race 3 No. 4 Arcadia Knight
Over the past 12 months, the combination of William Pike and Michael Grantham has struck at better than 36%, while their figures this season read six winners from 15 starters at 40%.
Pike and Grantham combine here with Arcadia Knight, a full brother to three-time Group 1 winner Arcadia Queen, who never quite showed his best during his previous campaign.
His strongest performance came third-up when placing in the Esperance Cup, but he was disappointing either side of that effort.
If his August 24 trial win is any indication, he may have turned a corner, with Arcadia Knight defeating stablemate and dual stakes winner Opportunistic, who came out of that heat to win the Coolgardie Cup at Kalgoorlie last Sunday.
Aside from his Ascot return in January, he has generally come to hand early, finishing in the money in four of five first-up attempts, including a win over this distance when resuming last winter, and if he is anywhere near his best, this 72+ looks well within reach.
Tabtouch - Westspeed Platinum Series Ht3 Tips (Race 5)
Belmont Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 1 Bosun
It has been a really good start to the season for trainer Mitchell Pateman, whose nine winners in August came at a 29% strike rate, while his first seven runners in September have produced two winners and two placegetters.
Pateman has been spacing the runs of Bosun, and that could prove the key with the lightly raced six-year-old, who has plenty of raw ability and appears to be putting things together.
He backed up a solid return second with a strong northern win in a decent maiden before making it two straight on August 15, scoring despite still doing plenty wrong.
The setup is more questionable here with the wide draw and rise in weight, but Bosun is likely to settle off the speed regardless and brings a level of class to a field that lacks depth.
Triple The Chant also warrants respect after a slightly disappointing latest effort, having looked ready to win one off three strong winter performances, and the drop in grade makes her dangerous late.
Nicopolis Stakes Tips (Race 7)
Belmont Best Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Snowdome
Snowdome looks superbly placed under the set weights and penalties of the Nicopolis Stakes as he attempts to go one better after three consecutive runner-up finishes through winter.
The Neville Parnham-trained galloper most recently ran into a very smart King Of Light on August 22 and now returns to the Belmont 1200m, where he has never finished outside the top two in four starts.
A four-time stakes winner with more than $1 million in prize money, Snowdome is still trying to break a drought that stretches back to the Pinjarra Classic in February last year.
He has had only eight starts since that victory, however, and his latest three efforts suggest career win number 10 may not be far away.
As the highest-rated runner in the field, he is not conceding a significant amount of weight to rivals with far less on their resumes, while Rissoles shapes as the main danger after returning well and having already won at Listed level at Ascot in autumn.
Bisley Workwear Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Belmont Value Bet - Race 8 No. 10 Hedawood
Hedawood can be forgiven for his July 18 failure before a break, when the son of Sessions covered ground throughout over 1400m and understandably tired late.
That trip also appeared to stretch him, with the majority of his better form coming over 1200m, and he now resumes over a more suitable distance on Saturday.
The seven-year-old comes into this off a nice Belmont trial on August 31, suggesting he is ready to produce fresh after a very consistent run through the shorter sprint trips.
His first finish outside the top four came in a 66+ on July 11 before the seven-day back-up into that aforementioned 1400m failure, while he has generally come to hand quickly, including a debut victory over this track-and-trip.
The most recent first-up run resulted in a third over 1000m at Ascot to begin his 2026 campaign and, in an open finale, Hedawood has each-way claims at a big price.
