Carlton will keep their slim finals hopes alive with a win over the West Coast Eagles on Sunday.

The Blues are 11th on the ladder with a win-loss record of 5-7 and defeated Essendon at the MCG last weekend by eight points.

West Coast have won just once in 2025 and come off a 10-point loss to North Melbourne in Round 13.

The Eagles have a poor recent record against the Blues and went down to that side by 71-points earlier this season.

They have struggled to find the footy in 2025 and rank last for disposals and clearances. Carlton will get on top in the middle but need to find the right formula when heading forward, having averaged just 72 points per game in the last five rounds.

Given both sides’ respective issues with scoring in recent times, the under looks right in play here. George Hewett will enjoy freedom in the middle for Carlton and it is hard to ignore Tom De Koning's recent form in the ruck

  • Both sides are averaging less than 75 points per game in the last five rounds.
  • George Hewett had 39 disposals the last time these two sides met.
  • Tom de Koning had 23 disposals last weekend
  • Carlton have lost their last two interstate matches in 2025

Head to Head

Carlton have won the past five between the two sides by an average margin of 76 points. The two sides have already faced each other this season and it was a 71-point win for the Blues at the Adelaide Oval during Gather Round.

George Hewett had 39 disposals in that match, while Sam Walsh had 37. Hewett has averaged 34 from his past four matches against the Eagles, while Patrick Cripps has averaged 30. Charlie Curnow has kicked 21 goals from his past three matches against West Coast.

West Coast have won just once game this season, a 28-point triumph over St Kilda at Optus Stadium in Round 10. They went down to Adelaide by 66 and Geelong by 43 before their loss to North Melbourne last weekend.

The Eagles have struggled to get enough of the footy this season and rank last for disposals and clearances. Liam Duggan had 23 disposals last weekend. Liam Baker and Ryan Maric are the only Eagles averaging over 20 disposals per game this season.

In the absence of Jake Waterman, Jack Williams and Oscar Allen have been targets up forward. Williams has kicked 2+ goals in each of his past two matches. Allen was quiet against North Melbourne and failed to register a goal. He kicked eight goals in his three matches prior to that.
