Sydney Swans vs Adelaide Crows, Round 19 2026 - Expert Prediction
Sydney should respond at home after being overrun by Fremantle, but Adelaide is playing well enough to keep this competitive. The Swans 1-39 winning margin looks the best way to approach a match that should remain close deep into the final term.

- Sydney Swans vs Adelaide Crows AFL 2026 Round 19 FAQ’s
Sydney has won six of its past seven meetings with Adelaide, with five of those victories landing inside the 1-39 margin. The model has the Swans by 11.9 points, which fits that trend well, while the SCG remains an important advantage against a Crows side coming off a dominant percentage-boosting win.
The total also appeals. Four of Sydney’s past five matches and four of Adelaide’s past five matches have cleared their respective game totals, while five of the past seven meetings between these clubs have also gone over that mark. The footybets.com.au model projects 189.5 total points, giving the Over a clear statistical edge.
Izak Rankine is the key Adelaide player prop after moving back into a full-time midfield role. He produced 31 disposals, seven clearances and eight tackles against Gold Coast, and has now cleared 25 disposals in consecutive matches. Against Sydney’s strong on-ball group, Adelaide will need Rankine heavily involved around stoppages again.
Tom Papley also looks well placed to build on his return. He kicked two goals against Fremantle in his first game back and should find more space against Adelaide than he did against the Dockers’ elite defensive structure. His movement and pressure around Charlie Curnow make 2+ goals a strong scoring angle.
Key Stats
- Sydney has won six of its past seven matches against Adelaide.
- Five of those six Sydney victories were by a 1-39 margin.
- Five of the past seven meetings have gone over 179.5 total points.
- Izak Rankine has recorded 25+ disposals in each of his past two matches.
Head to Head
The Sydney Swans have won six of their past seven matches against the Adelaide Crows, although last season’s 90-point Adelaide victory was a major outlier. Sydney won both meetings in 2024 by 31 and 42 points and also edged Adelaide by one point in 2023. Five of Sydney’s six recent wins in this matchup have fallen inside the 1-39 margin.
Sydney Swans Form Analysis
Sydney remains second on the ladder with a 13-4 record and third in the premiership odds market, although its recent form has been uneven. The Swans have averaged 88.6 points while conceding 96.8 across their past five matches, with losses to Fremantle and Brisbane surrounding wins over the Western Bulldogs, Port Adelaide and St Kilda.
The defeat to Fremantle was harsh on Sydney’s overall performance, with the Swans leading for much of the night before conceding nine goals in the final term. Their forward line still looked dangerous, with Charlie Curnow kicking five goals and Papley adding two on return.
Sydney continues to average more than 60 inside 50s per game and remains one of the league’s best turnover-scoring sides. The concern is sustaining its pressure and defensive structure for four quarters against the strongest teams.
Adelaide Crows Form Analysis
Adelaide enters Round 19 in fifth position with an 11-6 record after winning four of its past five matches. The Crows are averaging 99.6 points while conceding only 69.2 across that stretch, producing an excellent average margin of +30.4 points.
Their 79-point win over Gold Coast was built on complete midfield control. Adelaide won the clearances 54-34, dominated pressure and generated 12 second-half goals. Rankine’s return to a full-time midfield role added another explosive dimension alongside Jordan Dawson, Sam Berry and James Peatling.
The Crows have also found greater scoring depth, with Taylor Walker, Josh Rachele, Darcy Fogarty and Ben Keays all contributing. This is a much tougher test away from home, but their current form suggests they can stay within striking distance.

Verdict
Sydney looks well placed to bounce back at the SCG, but Adelaide's current form should keep this contest competitive. The best play is Sydney 1-39, while the Over 179.5 also rates strongly. Izak Rankine should continue his midfield surge with another 25+ disposal game, and Tom Papley looks well placed to kick multiple goals in his second game back.
