Mirra Andreeva vs Leylah Fernandez Tips, Prediction & Live Stream
Mirra Andreeva will be looking to make the Madrid Open semi-finals for the first time when she comes up against Leylah Fernandez on Tuesday.
It's been a challenging last 12 months or so for Andreeva, but the teenage star has found some good form again on clay and will be looking to make a third semi-final across the last month here in the Spanish capital.
Fernandez meanwhile has also somewhat surprisingly hit some of her best form on the dirt after reaching the quarter-finals in Stuttgart and backing it up with another run to the last eight here in Madrid.
However, Fernandez has never won a WTA 1000 quarter-final in her career, going 0-3 in such matches - making this the biggest match she's played since a shock run to the US Open final in 2021. The Canadian has also never defeated a top 10 player on clay.
Those are two pretty significant hurdles to clear all at once. Andreeva has showcased an upturn in form over the last month and if she maintains that sort of level, I think she can come through this test in straights.

Mirra Andreeva Form Analysis
- 2026 Record: 24-7
- WTA Madrid Record: 13-3
- Current Ranking: No. 8
- Career-High Ranking: No. 5 (July 2025)
After winning big WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells last year, Andreeva struggled to maintain that sort of level and didn't really make much of an impact for the remainder of 2025.
However, it's easy to forget that Andreeva is still just 18 years of age and we've perhaps warped some unrealistic expectations of the talented Russian.
After going 1-7 in quarter-final matches between Madrid 2025 and Dubai earlier this year, Andreeva has started to re-discover some of her best tennis on European clay.
Indeed, Andreeva has gone 10-1 since stepping back onto the dirt, winning the title in Linz before reaching the semi-finals in Stuttgart, where she went down to Elena Rybakina.
Andreeva has returned to the Madrid quarter-finals for the third time, but not before an almighty battle in the R16 with Anna Bondar, where she blew a 5-1 lead in the deciding set and 3-0 advantage in the tiebreak before coming away with a 6-7(5) 6-3 7-6(5) victory.
"I held a lot of emotions inside of myself," Andreeva said afterwards. "I was trying be very pumped in the third set, and I felt I was playing pretty good. Then after, being 5-1 up, I just felt a little bit nervous for some reason, even though I feel I should just have more confidence that I'm up on the score.
"I felt she started playing more consistent. I started missing a lot, not really going for my shots, not playing aggressive. All of that led to the tiebreak, and at the end, I just got relieved when all of that finished."
Leylah Fernandez Form Analysis
- 2026 Record: 9-10
- WTA Madrid Record: 5-5
- Current Ranking: No. 25
- Career-High Ranking: No. 13 (2022)
It was a slow start to the season for Fernandez, who managed just three wins across eight tournaments during the opening three months.
However, Fernandez has found some good form again since transitioning onto European clay.
The Canadian reached the quarter-finals in Stuttgart, where it took Elena Rybakina to stop her in a deciding set tiebreak.
Fernandez has made it back-to-back quarter-finals in Madrid, dropping just one set with victories over Julia Grabher, Iva Jovic and 31st seed Ann Li.
