Coco Gauff vs Belinda Bencic WTA Toronto Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Coco Gauff has won six of eight previous meetings against Belinda Bencic and more often than not, they've been big battles. I'm predicting more of the same in this Canadian Open quarter-final, with Gauff coming away with another three-set victory on Tuesday.

It's been a challenging season for Gauff and she's still searching for her first title of the year. However, the American has been playing well so far in Toronto, advancing to the quarter-finals without dropping a single set. Considering Gauff has been dragged into countless three-set contests throughout the season, it's an encouraging sign for the two-time major champion.

Bencic meanwhile loves playing at the Canadian Open - she's now won 18 matches at the tournament, which is her best record at any of the WTA 1000 tournaments. A former champion all the way back in 2015, Bencic ended the run of rising star Alexandra Eala with an emphatic 6-4 6-0 triumph in the R16, improving her record on hardcourt this season to 15-4.

It sets up what should be another entertaining encounter between these two. Clearly it's a matchup that Gauff enjoys, leading the H2H 6-2. Bencic just can't seem to find a way past the athleticism of Gauff, with her backhand not doing the damage it does against other opponents.

With Gauff playing well this week, there's no reason to think the American can't extend her dominant record in this H2H here. But as mentioned, six of the eight meetings have gone the distance, so another Gauff three-set victory looks good value.
  • Gauff has seen Over 21.5 games in 22 of her last 35 matches
  • Bencic has seen Over 21.5 games in three of her last five matches
  • Six of the last eight meetings have seen Over 21.5 games & gone three sets
  • Gauff has won four of her last five quarter-final matches
  • Gauff has won four of her last six matches vs top 20 players
  • Bencic has lost her last two quarter-final matches
  • Bencic has lost five of her last six matches vs top 10 players
  • Bencic has seen Over 21.5 games in six of her last seven matches vs top 10 players

Gauff vs Bencic Head To Head

Gauff leads 6-2 and has won the last four in a row, with three of those coming in a deciding set - including the most-recent at Wimbledon last month.

Coco Gauff Form Analysis

  • 2026 WTA Record: 34-12
  • WTA Canada Record: 13-5
  • Current Ranking: No. 4
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 2 (2024)

Relatively speaking, it's been a rather disappointing season for Gauff, who arrived in Canada without a title in 2026 and down at No. 4 in the world.

Gauff just hasn't been able to generate any real momentum this season and has repeatedly found herself being dragged into long, energy-sapping battles.

The 22-year-old's best results were runner-up finishes at WTA 1000 events in Miami and Rome, while she also made the Wimbledon semi-finals for the first time.

Returning to action in Toronto, Gauff has played some of her best tennis of the season, advancing into the quarter-finals without dropping a set in convincing victories over Kayla Day (6-2 7-5), Maria Sakkari (6-1 6-4) and Alina Korneeva (6-3 6-1).

Gauff will now be looking to overcome a 0-3 record in Canadian Open quarter-finals.

Belinda Bencic Form Analysis

  • 2026 WTA Record: 27-10
  • WTA Canada Record: 18-4
  • Current Ranking: No. 14
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 4 (2020)

Overall, it's been a very solid season for Bencic, but she's certainly done her best work on hardcourt, where she's compiled a 15-4 record.

Bencic probably played her best tennis in the very first tournament of the year, where she lead Switzerland to victory at the United Cup, defeating Iga Swiatek and Poland in the final.

The 29-year-old has been consistent throughout the year, including making the fourth round at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon - but there has been a lack of big wins lately, losing five of her last six matches against top 10 opponents.

Bencic has always played well in Canada and she's at her best again in Toronto, beating Sloane Stephens in straight sets and overcoming Taylor Townsend in three before crushing the in-form Alex Eala 6-4 6-0 in the R16. It was also Bencic's 10th consecutive win over left-handed players.
