Schoolkate has risen steadily up the rankings over the last few years and is aiming to crack the top 100 in 2025, while Etcheverry will be searching for more consistency this season, with the Argentine not winning consecutive matches outside of the slams or Davis Cup since May.

Etcheverry peaked at No. 27 in February last season after defeating Andy Murray on his way to the third round of the Australian Open, ultimately going down against Novak Djokovic.
The Argentine saved his best tennis for the slams in 2024, which certainly isn't a bad thing, also reaching the third round of Roland Garros and the US Open, while Alexei Popyrin took him out in five sets in the second round of Wimbledon.
However, stringing together wins in regular ATP events became an issue for Etcheverry - he didn't win back-to-back matches in those tournaments since Lyon in May.
Etcheverry launched his 2025 season by representing Argentina in the United Cup, losing in straight sets to Alex de Minaur before edging out Billy Harris of Great Britain in three.
Tristan Schoolkate Form
Schoolkate has made nice progress grinding away on the Futures and Challenger circuits, propelling himself to a career-high ranking of No. 167 after securing his first Challenger title in Guangzhou by beating fellow Aussie Adam Walton last year.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a big breakthrough at the US Open after he was awarded the reciprocal Australian wildcard, with Schoolkate going on to earn his first ever tour-level victory by beating Taro Daniel in the opening round.
Schoolkate very nearly took a big scalp in the second round when he led rising star Jakub Mensik by two sets to love, but his inexperience in those moments showed and he ultimately went down in a fifth-set match tiebreak.
The Perth native started his season in Brisbane qualifying, defeating compatriot James Duckworth in the opening round before going down to veteran Mikhail Kukushkin.

I think Schoolkate can make this match competitive with the Aussie crowd behind him in what will be a packed night session in Adelaide.
