Both players love playing in Adelaide - half of Kokkinakis' eight ATP quarter-finals have come at Memorial Drive, including his maiden title in 2022, while Korda finished runner-up at this tournament in 2023 before making the semi-finals last year.

Korda leads 3-0, with all three victories coming on American soil. Kokkinakis had two match points in their most-recent encounter in Washington 2024, but Korda saved one of them with a shank forehand before going on to force a deciding set, with the Aussie ultimately retiring.

There were big question marks surrounding Korda's fitness heading into the 2025 season after the American underwent elbow surgery following last year's US Open.

Returning for his first match in over four months, Korda eased to a routine 6-3 6-3 victory over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in his opening match in Adelaide.

Currently ranked No. 22 in the world, Korda has a good chance to climb up the rankings this season after not really making much of an impact at any of the four slams.

Korda did win his second career title in Washington (where he saved match points over Kokkinakis earlier in the tournament), while he was also a runner-up in s-Hertogenbosch and a semi-finalist at the Canada Masters.

If only the ATP Tour stayed in Adelaide for half of the year, Kokkinakis would be firmly entrenched in the top 10....

While his motivation can be questioned at various stages throughout the season, Kokkinakis always lifts for his hometown tournament and he's through to his fourth quarter-final in Adelaide after two marathon victories so far this week.

Kokkinakis took care of the tricky Yoshihito Nishioka in three sets in the opening round before edging out the hard-hitting Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the second round on Wednesday night.

Despite losing six more points in the match, Kokkinakis raised his level in the crucial moments, emerging triumphant in a deciding set tiebreak, much to the delight of a packed Memorial Drive.

Kokkinakis went three sets in his last four matches in Adelaide when he won the tournament in 2022 and he is on a similar trajectory so far this week.

Sebastian Korda v Thanasi Kokkinakis

This promises to be another close battle. The pair split sets 7-6 & 7-5 before Kokkinakis retired in Washington in the last meeting, while the Aussie has been dragged into countless three-set battles in Adelaide over the course of the last few years.

With this in mind, backing Over 22.5 total games as the best bet, while Korda has the slight edge in my mind.
