Lorenzo Musetti has won all four previous meetings against Matteo Arnaldi and he's tipped for another victory when the pair square off in the first round of the Lyon Open on Monday.
It's a battle of Italian grinders in the first round of the Lyon Open and you can't go against Musetti - he completely owns this matchup and there's not really any reason to suggest Arnaldi can turn things around on his least preferred surface of indoor hard.
Arnaldi has also been a bit of a mess outside of clay and that one massive semi-final at Roland Garros - he's 3-9 at tour-level on hardcourt for the year and is struggling for any sort of momentum right now.
Musetti isn't in ideal shape either - he was hurt at the US Open, returning to action at the Shanghai Masters but going down in his opening match to local wildcard Yi Zhou.

It's been a tough season for Musetti with injuries - he hit a career-high ranking of No. 5 in January, but was forced out of the Australian Open while leading Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals and he hasn't been able to get back to that level since.
Just as it looked as if Musetti was returning to some of his best tennis after making the Cincinnati quarter-finals, he was struck down by more physical problems at the US Open as he lost in the first round to Dane Sweeny.
The Italian played just the one tournament during the Asian swing, suffering an opening exit to Chinese wildcard Yi Zhou in three sets.
Musetti was a semi-finalist in Lyon when the event was staged on clay in 2021.

It's been a wild season for Arnaldi - half of his tour-level wins came at Roland Garros, where he put together a memorable tournament to reach a maiden major semi-final, only having to withdraw due to food poisoning.
Arnaldi has struggled since, winning just four tour-level matches - and none of those wins came against players in the top 60.
The Italian has at least won his last two opening matches, beating Rei Sakamato in Tokyo and Bernard Tomic in Shanghai. Arnaldi pushed Carlos Alcaraz in the first set before fading in Tokyo, while Taylor Fritz was too good in a straight sets victory in Shanghai.
Arnaldi only has two top 25 wins since April 2025 as he chases a first ever win over Musetti.
