Carlos Alcaraz is set to face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the first round at Queen's Club. Alcaraz, who comes off a remarkable win at the French Open, is transitioning to grass. Davidovich Fokina, recently wed, hasn't found much success on grass recently, but their previous meetings have been closely contested. Expect over 19.5 total games, as both players aim to dominate on grass. With Alcaraz's form and Davidovich’s past matches on grass, this is one to watch.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Carlos Alcaraz returns to action with a first round showdown against countryman Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the first round of Queens on Tuesday.

Alcaraz is competing for the first time since his stunning French Open title triumph earlier this month, where he saved three championship points and recovered from two sets down to overcome Jannik Sinner, becoming just the third man this century to defend his Roland Garros title and extending his winning streak over the Italian to five matches.

The Spaniard took a deserved break and celebrated in Ibiza over the last week, so it will be interesting to see his immediate performances on the grass at Queen's Club. Davidovich Fokina is also coming off a celebratory week, albeit for different reasons after getting married to his long-term partner. The transition to grass is tough at the best of times, so it wouldn't be surprising if Alcaraz took a while to get going here. I'm backing Over 19.5 total games as the best bet - Davidovich has pushed the match over this total in both previous meetings, while Alcaraz has gone over this total in five of his seven previous matches at Queens.

Head To Head

Alcaraz leads 2-0, but both matches were tough 7-6 6-4 straight set battles at Barcelona 2023 and Monte Carlo 2025.

Carlos Alcaraz Form

Alcaraz comes into this encounter with a 37-5 record on the season - and despite the rankings showing him at No. 2, it's pretty clear that at his best, he's the top dog in men's tennis right now.

The Spaniard has picked up four titles so far this season in Rotterdam, Monte Carlo and Rome, but obviously none of those compared to his historic French Open triumph a couple of weeks ago.

It was a Grand Slam final for the ages and Alcaraz further cemented himself as the new 'King of Clay', saving three championship points to defeat Sinner in five sets, also registering his fifth consecutive victory over the Italian.

One of the more underrated aspects of Alcaraz's career to date has been his ability to transition successfully to the grass - he's won 20 of his last 21 matches on the surface, including the 2023 and 2024 Wimbledon titles by beating Novak Djokovic in the final.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Form

Davidovich Fokina heads into this clash with a 23-14 record on the season, however his form has dipped over the last couple of months.

The Spaniard achieved many notable results over the first four months of the season, including reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open, back-to-back finals in Delray Beach and Acapulco and a semi-final run at the Monte Carlo Masters.

However, Davidovich Fokina comes into this encounter having lost four of his last six matches, including a second round exit at Roland Garros to Jiri Lehecka.

Davidovich Fokina hasn't enjoyed his time on grass in recent seasons - he's lost seven of his last nine matches on the surface, including back-to-back first round exits at Queens in 2023 and 2024.

Verdict

There's no doubt Alcaraz has been successful transitioning onto grass in recent seasons, but the first match is always tough.

Davidovich Fokina has pushed him to 23 total games in both previous meetings and I'm backing him to make this another competitive contest.
