Ben Shelton vs Kamil Majchrzak Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Over 23.5 games backed as Shelton continues injury comeback

Shelton was in career-best form a couple of months ago, winning his maiden Masters 1000 title in Toronto, hitting a career-high ranking of No. 6 and a genuine contender for the US Open. However, in a cruel twist, Shelton suffered a shoulder injury in the third round in New York and was forced to retire, returning in Shanghai a couple of weeks ago where he went down to veteran David Goffin. The American was a runner-up in Basel last year and will be looking to draw on those memories in a bid to get back to winning ways.

Meanwhile, Majchrzak is in some of the best and most consistent form of his career, coming into this clash having won 14 of his last 17 completed matches at all levels. The Pole already has matches under his belt in Basel after qualifying for the main draw, but this will be just his fourth time coming up against a top 10 player (currently 1-2). Majchrzak has the form to make this a very competitive contest, so backing Over 23.5 total games, but Shelton thrives in these indoor conditions and should be able to get the job done.

This will be the first career meeting between the pair.

Shelton comes into this clash with a 37-19 record on the season and at a career-high ranking of No. 6 in the world, positioning himself strongly for a maiden ATP Finals appearance.

However, a shoulder injury sustained at the US Open threatens to derail the end of his year.

The American was on fire coming off a first Masters 1000 title in Canada before a quarter-final run immediately after in Cincinnati. Shelton returned to action in Shanghai, but was clearly underdone in a straight sets defeat to the out-of-form David Goffin.

Shelton continues his comeback in Basel, where he put together a great run to the final last year, defeating the likes of Andrey Rublev and Arthur Fils before going down to the giant-serving Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

Majchrzak heads into this encounter with a 15-11 record at tour-level for the season, hitting a career-high ranking of No. 61 last month (currently No. 70).

Most of Majchrzak's good work has come over the last few months - he enjoyed his best ever Grand Slam run by making the fourth round of Wimbledon before backing it up with a third round appearance at the US Open.

Also winning a Challenger title in his home country of Poland, Majchrzak continued his momentum by reaching the third round of the Shanghai Masters, where it took Alex de Minaur to stop him.

The 29-year-old qualified for the Basel main draw without dropping a set with wins over Pedro Martinez and Valentin Royer.
