Alexander Zverev will face Brandon Nakashima in the BOSS Open quarter-finals in Stuttgart. Zverev aims for his first grass title, but Nakashima's strong game on grass could pose a tough challenge. While Zverev has beaten Nakashima in their three previous Grand Slam encounters, including a recent US Open match, the game is anticipated to be competitive, with predictions of over 22.5 total games. The match could feature several tiebreaks as both players exhibit skills well-suited for the Stuttgart court.

Alexander Zverev vs Brandon Nakashima Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Top seed Alexander Zverev continues his BOSS Open title quest when he meets dangerous grass courter Brandon Nakashima in the quarter-finals in Stuttgart on Friday.

Zverev is chasing his first grass title this week and this quarter-final showdown with Nakashima could prove a tough test. The American has made the fourth round of Wimbledon in the past and has a sneaky good serve that is very tough to break in these conditions.

I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one tiebreak here, or for Nakashima to win a set. The American has seen at least one tiebreak in four of his last five matches on grass, while Zverev needed to dig out a second set breaker in his Stuttgart opener against Corentin Moutet. I'm backing Over 22.5 total games, with some value on Zverev taking the opening set in a tiebreak.

Head To Head

Zverev has won the three previous meetings between the pair, all of which have come at Grand Slams, including a most-recent four-set victory at the 2024 US Open. Two of the three previous meetings have featured at least one tiebreak.

Alexander Zverev Form

Zverev enters this matchup with a 30-11 record for the season, having secured his only title at the ATP 500 event in Munich on clay.

His Grand Slam struggles have continued in 2025 — he fell short in his third major final at the Australian Open, losing to Jannik Sinner and his defeat to Novak Djokovic in four sets at Roland Garros extended his dismal record against top 10 opponents at Slams to 5-23.

Zverev also had a golden opportunity to climb to World No. 1 earlier this year during Sinner’s suspension, but he faltered under the weight of expectation and never truly threatened to seize the top spot.

The 28-year-old is bidding to capture his maiden grass title this week in Stuttgart and got his campaign up and running with a 6-2 7-6(6) dispatch of Moutet in his opener.

Brandon Nakashima Form

Nakashima comes into this encounter with a 16-15 record on the season, achieving a career-high ranking of No. 29 earlier in the year after dropping outside the top 100 in 2024.

In that regard, it's been an excellent last 12 months or so for Nakashima, who has a positive 14-12 career record at tour-level on grass.

The American predictably struggled on clay, winning back-to-back matches just once in the altitude of Madrid, losing his Roland Garros opener to Mariano Navone in four sets.

Back on his preferred grass, Nakashima has reached his first quarter-final since Houston in March, edging out Jacob Fearnley in three sets before a 6-3 7-6 victory over countryman Learner Tien in the second round.

Verdict

Nakashima has a habit of playing tiebreaks on grass and Zverev hasn't been convincing at all this season, so Over 22.5 total games is backed.

Zverev snatching the opener in a tiebreak also looks good value on the Stuttgart lawns.
