In their upcoming match at the HSBC Championships, Alex de Minaur and Jiri Lehecka are set to thrill tennis fans. De Minaur, starting his grass season, faces a challenge against Lehecka, who recently impressed in Stuttgart. Their previous meeting was a closely contested match, indicating a potentially similar outcome here. While De Minaur boasts a strong grass-court record, Lehecka's recent form suggests a tough match. Expect a game with over 22.5 total games, likely seeing De Minaur bounce back after an initial setback.

Alex de Minaur vs Jiri Lehecka Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Alex de Minaur launches his grass swing when he comes up against the dangerous Jiri Lehecka in the opening round of the HSBC Championships at Queen's Club on Tuesday.

De Minaur has an excellent 51-23 record on grass throughout his career, winning a title in s-Hertogenbosch and making the Wimbledon quarter-finals last year, where unfortunately his hip injury surfaced, forcing a withdrawal ahead of a scheduled clash with Novak Djokovic. De Minaur is coming off a surprising second round defeat in five sets at Roland Garros against Alexander Bublik, with the Australian later speaking to a bit of mental and physical fatigue amidst the brutal scheduling of the sport.

I can't see this being an easy match for Demon. Lehecka already has some match practice on grass under his belt, making the quarter-finals in Stuttgart last week, while he's proven time and time again he has the weapons to trouble top players. I'm backing Over 22.5 total games, Lehecka to take advantage of a perhaps-rusty de Minaur in the opening set and the Aussie to come back and prevail in three.

Head To Head

De Minaur leads 1-0, prevailing in an almighty tussle at the 2023 Davis Cup Finals, coming from behind to win 4-6 7-6 7-5.

Alex de Minaur Form

De Minaur comes into this contest with a 27-11 record on the season and still searching for his first title of 2025.

The Aussie has dropped out of the top 10 to a current mark of No. 12 after failing to defend his Roland Garros quarter-final points from last season, going down to an on-fire Alexander Bublik in five sets in the second round.

It had been a solid season up until that point, highlighted by a runner-up finish in Rotterdam, semi-final showing at the Monte Carlo Masters and a run to the Australian Open quarter-finals.

Back on his beloved grass, de Minaur will be hoping for a return to his best tennis over the coming month. De Minaur has an 8-5 record at Queen's Club, reaching the semi-finals in 2021 and the final in 2023, where he went down to Carlos Alcaraz.

Jiri Lehecka Form

Lehecka heads into this showdown with a 20-12 record on the season, but 11 of those wins came in the opening two months of the season - and three of those victories were by retirement.

The Czech launched the year with a title in Brisbane and a fourth round showing at the Australian Open, along with a semi-final finish in Doha.

However, Lehecka has struggled to produce his best level over the last few months, coming into this clash following a heavy loss to Jannik Sinner in the third round of the French Open, managing to win just three games.

The World No. 22 began his grass swing last week in Stuttgart, defeating Benjamin Bonzi and Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets to reach the quarter-finals before going down to Ben Shelton.

Verdict

De Minaur is playing his first match on grass for the season, so he might be a little slow out of the blocks, with Lehecka coming off a quarter-final in Stuttgart last week.

Their only previous meeting was a big battle, with Demon coming from a set down to prevail in three. Backing a similar sort of outcome here.
