Egypt are appearing at the World Cup for just the fourth time and are coming off their first unbeaten qualifying campaign since 1934, winning eight and drawing two of their games.
However, those wins can be taken with a grain of salt considering they were against minnow nations such as Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

Egypt warmed up for the World Cup with a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia and 1-0 triumph over Russia, along with a solid 0-0 draw with Spain and narrow 2-1 defeat to Brazil.
