Belgium vs Egypt World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Belgium to kick off Group G with a win

Belgium open their 2026 World Cup campaign against Egypt at Lumen Field, Seattle, looking to build on their strong qualifying form and friendly wins. Despite losing their 'golden generation,' Belgium's mix of young talent like Jeremy Doku and experienced stars such as Kevin De Bruyne offers them the edge. Egypt historically struggles in World Cups but has key threats in Mo Salah and Omar Marmoush. While Egypt could secure their first-ever World Cup win in later games, Belgium are tipped to win this clash comfortably.

Belgium vs Egypt World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Flying under the radar, Belgium launch their 2026 World Cup campaign with a Group G showdown against Egypt on Monday at Lumen Field in Seattle.

With their golden generation well and truly a thing of the past, Belgium enter this World Cup with less fanfare than usual - and that might suit them perfectly.

A third place finish at the 2018 World Cup was Belgium's best major tournament during that golden generation, but some new talents such as Jeremy Doku have emerged, along with veterans still with something to prove, such as Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.

Meanwhile, Egypt still haven't won a World Cup game in their history and come into this tournament following a fourth-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations at the beginning of the year. Hossam Hassan's side can struggle against European nations, but with the likes of Mo Salah and Omar Mamoush in their ranks, they can't be discounted.

Egypt should be able to secure their first World Cup win with games against Iran and New Zealand to come, but I don't think it happens here. Belgium have been on fire lately and scored the second-most goals in UEFA qualifying with 29. The Red Devils have beaten USA 5-2, Tunisia 5-0 and Croatia 2-0 lately, so they can win with some room to spare, with Doku making an impact with a goal or assist.
  • Belgium are unbeaten in their last 13 games
  • Belgium have won four of their last five games
  • Belgium are unbeaten in their last 15 World Cup group stage games
  • Belgium scored 29 goals in World Cup qualifying (second-most in UEFA)
  • Belgium have scored 3+ goals in nine of their last 10 wins
  • Egypt have failed to win four of their last six games, but scored in a 2-1 defeat vs Brazil last time out
  • Jeremy Doku registered seven goal contributions for Belgium in qualifying & was on target with four goals in his last seven games for Man City this past season

Belgium vs Egypt Head To Head

Egypt have won three of the last four meetings, but this will be their first clash in a major tournament.

Belgium Form Analysis

Belgium are featuring in their 15th World Cup and will be hoping to make amends for their woeful 2022 tournament in Qatar, where they crashed out in the group stage.

Rudi Garcia has worked his magic with the national side over the last couple of years, with Belgium coming through UEFA qualifying unbeaten and scoring a whopping 29 goals.

The Red Devels have been outstanding in their warm-up friendlies, crushing an impressive USA 5-2 and demolishing Tunisia 5-0, along with a 2-0 triumph over Croatia.

Belgium Team News

Jeremy Doku has emerged as a key figure in this Belgium side on the wing, scoring five goals and laying on two assists during qualifying.

Veterans Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne are expected to start, while Aston Villa duo Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana should feature in the middle of the park.

Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois will start in goals.

Egypt Form Analysis

Egypt are appearing at the World Cup for just the fourth time and are coming off their first unbeaten qualifying campaign since 1934, winning eight and drawing two of their games.

However, those wins can be taken with a grain of salt considering they were against minnow nations such as Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

The Pharaohs were knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations by Senegal in the semi-finals before finishing fourth with a defeat to Nigeria. Egypt warmed up for the World Cup with a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia and 1-0 triumph over Russia, along with a solid 0-0 draw with Spain and narrow 2-1 defeat to Brazil.

Egypt Team News

Mohamed Salah was struggling with a hamstring injury towards the end of the season, but will certainly start.

Omar Mamoush and Trezeguet are likely to feature in Egypt's attack, while Yasser Ibrahim and Ramy Rabia could start in defence ahead of goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy.

Verdict

Belgium should have too much firepower, with Doku continuing his red-hot form.
