Manly Sea Eagles vs Canberra Raiders NRL 2025 Round 3 FAQ’s

The Sea Eagles have an appalling record without their star fullback winning just 33% of games when Trbojevic is out. Add to that Daly Cherry-Evans is under an injury cloud and could be hampered in his kicking game and things aren’t looking rosy for the home team.

Canberra have only won 3 of the last 10 against Manly but two of those games have been at Brookvale Oval (4 Pines), including the matchup there last season. Their forward pack has been dominant over the first two rounds and even though they are missing Joe Tapine and Zac Hosking they have the depth to continue in the same vein.

The Raiders have the most Run Metres and Tackle Busts of any team so far this season while Manly have allowed their opponent to control the Territory 57% of the time. My expectation is that Manly will have troubles containing the big forward pack of the Raiders and will be somewhat stagnant in attack without Turbo.

Take Canberra on the Moneyline with the Game Total going Over as has been the trend between these teams in recent years. Xavier Savage has scored in 2 of his 3 games against Manly.

Canberra have won 2 straight at 4 Pines Park.
The last 4 games in a row between these teams have gone Over the Game Total.
The Raiders lead the league in Run Metres and Tackle Busts.
The Sea Eagles allowed 2 tries down their left edge last weekend.

Head to Head

Manly have won 7 of the last 10 games between these teams dating back to the start of the 2019 season. They split the games last season with each team winning on the road.

The last 4 games in a row have gone Over the Game Total which broke a streak of 5 straight games prior that had gone Under. 4 of the last 5 games and 5 of the last 10 have all finished with margins of 13+.

Manly have a 6-4 ATS record in the last 10.

Manly were brought back down to earth last weekend in a 36-16 loss to the Warriors on the road. Despite scoring the first try of the game after only 4 minutes it was slim pickings for the remainder of the match as their opponent claimed domination of possession and territory.

The Sea Eagles allowed NZ to run for 1505 metres in the game and were falling off tackles like it was a sport giving 51 tackle busts to their opponent. They also allowed 7 linebreaks and had to defend 51 tackles in their own red zone.

To make matters worse both Daly Cherry-Evans and Tom Trbojevic left the field injured in the loss with Turbo out for this upcoming clash.

Manly Sea Eagles Team News

Tom Trbojevic has been ruled out since teams were named, his replacement has not been confirmed but it is likely Lehi Hopoate moves from the wing to cover and Tommy Talau would join the starting team to cover.

Jake Arthur is on standby for Cherry-Evans but Daly has said he is right to go this weekend on the long break.

Tolu Koula makes his return replacing Clayton Faulalo in the centres while Siua Taukeiaho is in the starting front row sending Josh Aloiai to the bench and Tof Sipley to out altogether.

The Raiders are sitting pretty at 2nd on the ladder following their 2-0 start to the season. Last weekend they dismantled a lacklustre Broncos team winning 32-22 by dominating the ruck and amassing a touch under 500 post contact metres.

Canberra had 45 tackles in their opponents 20m zone converting that into 6 tries while a host of players rolled their sleeves up doing the hard work in the middle. Zac Hosking made 34 tackles while running for 142 metres and Corey Horsburgh had 119 metres on 16 runs with 24 tackles as the prop.

The Raiders gave Brisbane a sniff in the 2nd half allowing two tries to their opponent who had just a 50% completion rate for the half but still owned 58% of territory and 52% of possession.
