Race 1 - Midway Handicap Tips (1800m)

Rosehill Best Bet - Race 1 No. 7 Wild Thoughts

Proven Thoroughbreds have a knack for finding smart horses at modest prices, and $45,000 buy Wild Thoughts looks another progressive type for Kerry Parker.

He showed promise in his first two runs before breaking through in style over 1500m at start three, with the rise in trip suiting second-up.

Last time he stayed at 1500m and struck a Heavy 10 at Kembla Grange, but still toughed it out to score again, completing the double.

That August 7 win came over Iceman, who franked the form with a Warwick Farm BM72 victory at his next start.

Now stretching to 1800m, Wild Thoughts looks ideally placed to extend the winning sequence in this Midway.

Race 3 - Bankstown Sports Handicap Tips (1500m)

Rosehill Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 7 Amreekiyah

Amreekiyah’s unbeaten run ended on August 16, but she lost few admirers after flashing home with the fastest last 200m of the race.

She handled the Heavy 8 fairly second-up but took longer to wind up, and the extra 100m here third-up should play right into her hands.

Earlier in the year, she had Group form lines through her first prep and on resumption at Canterbury on July 23, she made late ground against the pattern of the day.

Favoured runner Sister Daae got the better of her last start, but the Peter Snowden-trained mare may have more upside.

Third-up with fitness on her side, Amreekiyah looks well placed to bounce back strongly.

Race 7 - Merrylands RSL Club Handicap Tips (1400m)

Rosehill Favourite - Race 7 No. 3 Roselyn’s Star

Roselyn’s Star made a big impression first-up on August 16, his first run in 16 months, and he arguably should have won with more luck.

Caught wide without cover from a poor draw, he was forced to do plenty of work on a testing Rosehill surface.

Despite the slowly run race, the first three home had far easier runs, and his effort marked him as a horse to follow this prep.

He’s lightly raced with upside, and early market support suggests confidence in his second-up prospects.

With queries around key rivals such as Without Parallel, who is rising from Highway company, Roselyn’s Star could well start favourite here.

Race 8 - Smithfield RSL San Domenico Stakes Tips (1100m)

Rosehill Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 5 Wodeton

Chris Waller’s colt Wodeton resumes with three winter trials under his belt, giving him a strong base for this feature attempt.

He was heavily spruiked after bolting in on debut over this track/trip in January, becoming Golden Slipper favourite at the time.

While the unusual Slipper prep tested him, he still ran with merit in top company and arguably should have saluted in the big one.

Although he left some punters burnt, he remained competitive across a spaced campaign, highlighting his raw talent.

Back to 1100m first-up, Wodeton looks perfectly placed to launch his spring campaign with a statement win.

Race 10 - Clubsnsw Handicap Tips (1200m)

Rosehill Value Bet - Race 10 No. 2 Disneck

Disneck showed his big finishing burst when resuming here on July 19, and he’s been kept fresh since, with connections waiting for the right ground.

Last prep he pieced together a hat-trick before being luckless in Group 3 company, where he produced the fastest sectionals of the day.

Second-up at 1200m looks suitable, and while he rises in weight, a midfield settling spot should give him every chance.

He dropped right out from a wide gate first-up, so a more economical run here would be ideal.

Connections are targeting black-type with him this spring, and this shapes as a perfect stepping stone to bigger goals.
