Pinjarra Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Repossession

The son of Sessions arrives here as the winner of three of his five starts to date, including at Belmont when debuting just over a year ago.

Repossession has raced on good going in all four subsequent starts, including when fourth-of-sixteen via the Listed Placid Ark Stakes in November.

The gelding was beaten just a length when jumping from next to the rail that day and he was spelled following that first effort at Listed level.

Trained by Chris & Michael Gangemi, Repossession returned with an impressive barrier trial success over 400m at Belmont at the end of April.

He built on that trial success when delivering a one-and-a-half-length success in a 1000m contest at Belmont last month.

The form of that contest has been boosted by a subsequent win for the runner-up and he looks up to scoring under apprentice Ryan Houston.

Tabtouch Westspeed Platinum Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Pinjarra Value Bet - Race 4 No. 10 Village Girl

Trainer Takahide Ikenushi had a good time of it in May, winning with three of his six runners.

While Village Girl was one of the losers when finishing last-of-seven over 1200m at York, jockey Chanel Cooper reported that the mare failed to settle on that occasion.

The five-year-old can be expected to have improved for her two runs back, having headed into a 1000m contest at Ascot in April without a barrier trial.

The mare has shown a liking for this venue in the past, registering a win and a third from four previous starts here, while she has placed on wet surfaces in the past.

A wide barrier is far from ideal in this contest, however, Village Girl is tactically versatile.

Jockey William Pike is a positive jockey booking and his mount looks value to help him improve on a near 27% strike-rate (16/60) when riding for the Ikenushi stable.

PKF Perth – Hyperion Stakes (Group 3)

Pinjarra Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 4 Magnificent Andy

While you have to go back just over a year to find his most recent success, that triumph did come in the 2024 renewal of this contest.

The son of Magnus got home by a narrow margin when racing on a wet turf course at Belmont that day and he has registered a string of solid runs in defeat since.

Those efforts include second-place finishes in each of his last two starts, with the first of those coming in the Group 3 Northam Stakes.

Magnificent Andy went on to lose out by less than a neck over 1400m in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint held at this venue a week ago.

The step back up to 1600m is no issue here, while the gelding has been allocated an inside alley (jumped from fourteen in each of his last two starts).

While all three of his starts this prep have come on a sound surface, Magnificent Andy is a three-time winner on soft going and he looks capable of returning to winning ways.

Hygain Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Pinjarra Best Bet - Race 8 No. 3 Luvnwar

The New Zealand-bred mare won in Listed company at Belmont just under a year ago and she raced at black-type level in all three starts last prep.

Her best effort among those outings saw her beaten just over half-a-length when resuming in the Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes at Ascot.

Racing on good going that day, Luvnwar came close to defying odds of $21 when racing over 1400m.

While unable to back that effort up in two subsequent starts, she showed up well in trials ahead of her return to action here recently.

The four-year-old resumed with a victory by just over a length when competing in a 1200m Benchmark 78+ handicap that day.

Michael Grantham’s representative boasts a good barrier here, while the step up to 1400m is no issue.
