Morphettville Parks Tips September 6

Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap Tips (Race 1)

Morphettville Parks Best Bet - Race 1 No. 2 Lavish Thinker

Phillip Stokes’ gelding has placed second in both runs since a below-par effort over 2400m at Sandown in early July.

He was narrowly denied first-up in a 2000m Benchmark 62 at Murray Bridge, beaten less than half a length on a Soft 5. That form has stacked up, with winner Rabtat going on to score twice since and re-opposing here, while fourth home Peta’s Heart has also won.

Lavish Thinker franked that run with another close second over 2250m in a Benchmark 76 at this track, again forced to overcome a wide draw.

With Jacob Opperman sticking, and dropping back in grade, he looks well placed to record his first win since December.

Happy Birthday Tara Kelly Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Morphettville Parks Value Bet - Race 4 No. 13 Sir Leapalot

Sir Leapalot has been ultra-consistent, finishing top three in five of his last six starts. While this is tougher, he arrives in good form.

The six-year-old was only just denied at Murray Bridge two back, beaten a neck over 900m, before finishing third in a Benchmark 58 over this course and distance.

Both efforts came on soft tracks, and any further easing of the forecast Soft 6 would be a plus — his only win came on heavy ground.

Drawn well in gate seven, with regular rider Anna Jordsjo aboard and carrying a light weight, Ryan Hannemann’s gelding looks value to break through at Saturday level.

Sometime Hall Of Fame Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Morphettville Parks Roughie - Race 6 No. 9 Magic Field

Magic Field is proven on wet ground, with all three career wins coming on rain-affected tracks - two of them on heavy going.

The son of Deep Field scored over 900m at Mount Gambier three starts back on a Heavy 10, and he’s been competitive since in similar conditions.

He was midfield in an 1100m Benchmark 64 here from a wide alley before a close third back at Mount Gambier over 906m.

Andrew Clarken’s sprinter has the turn of foot to swoop late, and while a wide barrier isn’t ideal, he’s capable of surprising at odds having won over this track and trip previously.

Tony McEvoy Hall Of Fame Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Morphettville Parks Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Charm Catcher

Lightly raced and progressive, Charm Catcher has won two of her three starts and looks on the up.

She debuted with a Balaklava maiden win last November before a spell, then returned with a close fourth at the same track in July on heavy ground.

Second-up, she stepped to 1100m at Strathalbyn and impressed, settling midfield before powering clear on a Soft 6 to score by more than a length.

Taylor Johnstone retains the ride, and as a daughter of Blue Point she looks to have more upside than most here. She can make it back-to-back wins.
