Morphettville Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 7 Arizona Dreamer
A winning jump-out over 600m at Morphettville last month suggests Arizona Dreamer is ready to make a strong return, with the lightly raced filly looking well placed to break her maiden at the fourth attempt.
The daughter of Rebel Dane finished in the first two in two of her three appearances during her initial preparation, including a runner-up finish in a 1050m Class 1 handicap at Balaklava when last seen in June.
There was merit in that latest performance, particularly given she was ridden patiently before working home, and similar tactics could be employed from barrier nine, which should allow her to settle without becoming involved in an early battle for position.
All three race-day appearances have come on Soft ground, although she appeared comfortable on a firmer surface during her recent jump-out, suggesting Tuesday's Good 4 conditions should be manageable.
Richard and Chantelle Jolly's filly remains open to considerable improvement, while Jake Toeroek takes the ride for the first time, and her encouraging early form gives her an excellent opportunity to secure a breakthrough victory.
Thomas Farms Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Morphettville Best Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Flying Brant
A significant drop in grade could see Flying Brant return to winning form on Tuesday, with the Stephen Theodore-trained gelding bringing stronger form than most of his rivals into this Class 2 handicap.
The four-year-old has yet to win in four appearances this preparation but performed respectably over 1800m at Morphettville last time, finishing fifth in Benchmark 68 company and beaten less than three and a half lengths.
That effort came on Soft ground, while his record on firmer surfaces is particularly encouraging, having finished in the first three in three of four appearances on Good tracks, with his only unplaced result coming when fourth on the Parks circuit earlier this campaign.
His placing in the Group 3 Chairman's Stakes at Morphettville in April provides another strong reference for this considerably easier assignment, while an inside draw should allow him to settle close to the speed and enjoy an economical passage.
The Theodore stable has been producing encouraging results recently, and with Noel Callow arriving after four winners at Morphettville on Saturday, Flying Brant looks particularly well placed to capitalise on the drop in class.
Sportsbet John Letts Cup Tips (Race 7)
Morphettville Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Air Assault
A return to his favourite distance gives Air Assault an excellent opportunity to claim a third consecutive John Letts Cup, having combined with trainer Andrew Gluyas and jockey Jason Holder to win the past two editions of the Listed feature.
The six-year-old has produced several competitive performances this preparation, including two runner-up finishes in Listed company, with the first coming when beaten less than a length in the Leon Macdonald Stakes over 1400m on the Morphettville Parks circuit in August.
His latest appearance in the Group 3 Coongy Handicap over 2000m at Caulfield proved too demanding, finishing ninth against stronger opposition, although the return to a more suitable race at his home track should allow him to produce a much better performance.
The son of Justify boasts an outstanding record over 1800m, winning four of his five appearances at the distance, while his previous successes on Good ground suggest Tuesday's conditions should pose no problems.
Air Assault produced a dominant six-and-a-half-length victory in this race last year and again draws barrier five, and although he must concede weight to most of his rivals, his proven record in this event makes him the horse to beat.
Aceit Transport Solutions Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Morphettville Value Bet - Race 9 No. 6 Kamikaze Fighter
An improved fifth-place finish at Balaklava last time suggests Kamikaze Fighter could be approaching his best form, with the six-year-old finding a suitable opportunity to secure his first South Australian victory.
The gelding struggled in his first two appearances this preparation, finishing towards the rear on both occasions, including when encountering a wide barrier at Gawler on his penultimate outing.
There was more encouragement in his latest performance, when settling in midfield before finishing fifth, beaten less than five and a half lengths, with that effort marking his first attempt over the distance this campaign.
Both previous victories have come on Good ground, making Tuesday's conditions a positive, while barrier four should provide a more favourable passage than he has enjoyed in some of his recent appearances.
Trainer Indianna Weinert recently celebrated her first Group race success when Smooth Chino won at Flemington, and with Kamikaze Fighter making his first appearance at Morphettville, he looks capable of improving further and challenging at attractive odds.
