Mornington Tips November 27

Best Bet:

Race 4 No. 9 Path To Profit

The daughter of Capitalist has demonstrated good form in three starts to date, finishing in the first two in two of those.

Those efforts include a defeat by just under half-a-length when placing second in a good-ground 1000m maiden at Bairnsdale on debut in September.

While the three-year-old could finish only fourth in a metro event at Sandown next time, she was beaten less than a length over the same distance in similar conditions.

Ciaron Maher’s filly jumped as favourite when stepping up to this distance for the first time here earlier this month, finishing second as a short-priced elect.

The pick raced on a Soft 5 surface for the first time that day, and back on a forecast Good 4 track and racing in a cross-over noseband for the first time, she is taken to break her maiden.

Next Best:

Race 1 No. 2 Johnich

The three-year-old has delivered two good wet-track efforts from as many starts, including when debuting over 1500m at this venue last month.

The Dundeel gelding came home one-and-a-half lengths second to the subsequently Group 2-placed Top Reward that day, with a next-time-out winner back in third.

The selection went on to place third when beaten just under two lengths stepped up to 1600m for a small-field maiden at Pakenham just over two weeks later.

While it was disappointing that the gelding wasn’t able to salute on that occasion, he reportedly didn’t handle the Soft 6 track and ran well in the circumstances.

Jason Warren’s youngster has since trialled with a sixth on the Heath course at Caulfield and, racing on a forecast Good 4 track for the first time, looks up to scoring here.

Market Mover:

Race 6 No. 4 Bedtime Angel

John Moloney’s representative has been the subject of support, having shown up well in finishing in the first two in two of her three starts this prep.

Those efforts include a first-up triumph in a 1200m Benchmark 56 handicap at Moe in October.

That performance came on good going, with the filly putting a subsequent heavy-track disappointment behind her when runner-up over 1107m at Geelong.

Teo Nugent’s mount boasts a favourable barrier and has been supported into $3 favouritism with Unibet Australia after opening at $4.40.

Stats Say:

The Ben, Will and JD Hayes stable do well when teaming up with jockey Michael Dee, with the pairing boasting a 20.5% strike rate together (64/312).

They are represented by three runners on the card including Esmahli, a debut winner here earlier this month who is expected to prove popular in the fifth.

Fellow winning debutant Hot Blue heads into the seventh race on the back of a Seymour maiden success and is another expected to feature prominently in betting.

Under My Thumb in the finale is the third Dee/Hayes runner, with the mare dropping from metro level following a sixth at Caulfield Heath last time.
