Gatton Tips June 3
Domestic & Family Violence Prevention Month Maiden Plate Tips (Race 1)
Gatton Best Bet - Race 1 No. 7 Elizahro
There is plenty to like about Pat Webster’s filly, who has made just two starts to date.
The first of those saw her beaten just under two-and-a-half lengths in an 800m maiden at Ipswich at the end of January after heading into the race on the back of two barrier trial wins.
Racing on the pace from a wide barrier in a nine-runner field, Elizahro produced a promising debut effort and also proved she could handle the Soft 5 conditions expected here.
The daughter of Astern was then spelled before returning to action as favourite at Toowoomba earlier this month, where she was beaten less than half a length in an 870m maiden after again racing prominently.
Chloe Lowe retains the ride and, from an inside barrier for the first time, Elizahro looks capable of breaking through for her maiden victory.

Gatton Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 13 Lukey Blue
The three-year-old produced some good efforts in defeat last preparation, including runner-up finishes in a pair of Ipswich maidens.
The second of those placings came over this distance on a wet track in January before she was sent for a spell.
While she failed to fire at Kilcoy when resuming, Lukey Blue improved sharply second-up to break through for her first win in a track-and-trip maiden.
The daughter of Cosmic Force scored by one-and-a-half lengths and appeared to have something in hand at the finish after leading throughout.
Similar tactics were used at Warwick last time, although she faded late over 1200m, and the return to this venue and distance look positives from an inside draw.

Gatton Value Bet - Race 8 No. 2 Nails And Pride
The son of Sepoy recorded two wins on sound surfaces earlier this season, including a Benchmark 58 victory over 1310m at Lismore in October.
He followed those successes with three solid efforts in defeat before ending the year with a fifth placing in a Benchmark 82 event over 1410m at Lismore in December.
Nails And Pride has made two starts this preparation, beginning with a seventh-place finish over 1200m at Ipswich at the end of last month.
The six-year-old then headed to the Gold Coast and again finished seventh when contesting a Class 5 event on the polytrack.
The drop in grade and distance are both positives and, with improvement expected third-up, Marcus Wilson’s gelding looks value to return to the winner’s list.
