Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Divakara

Stuart Kendrick’s gelding showed good form at Sunshine Coast earlier this prep finishing in the first two at the track in each of his first five starts.

Those five starts included two wins with the most recent of those a three-and-a-half-length triumph in a Class 3 set weights contest last month.

The selection raced on a soft 7 track that day however he failed to shine when only sixth at this venue subsequently.

The four-year-old can be forgiven that effort which came just eight days later while he was ridden from off the pace in a race that suited front-runners that day.

Kyle Wilson-Taylor, on board for all five of the gelding’s starts at Sunshine Coast returns to the saddle here with the pick having had Ryan Maloney up last time out.

While the son of Dundeel has been allocated a wide barrier here he has the distance and underfoot conditions to suit here and looks capable of returning to winning ways.

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 6 No. 9 Hurts So Good

The son of So You Think resumed with a victory by just over half-a-length in a Benchmark 70 handicap held over this track and trip in January.

The five-year-old jumped from a wide barrier that day and went on to deliver a good fourth-place finish when beaten just over a length when stepping up to 1200m at Doomben the following month.

The pick raced behind the speed in a Benchmark 85 level at Doomben that day but has failed to make much impact ridden cold in two subsequent outings.

The most recent of those efforts saw the gelding finish sixth having jumped from barrier twelve in a 1200m Benchmark 78 handicap here last month.

The switch to a forecast wet track should be no issue with the gelding having won on heavy ground here in the past.

An inside barrier is a positive for this contest and it would be no surprise to see the selection return to form with a win jumping from an inside alley.

XXXX Class 6 Plate Tips (Race 8)

The four-year-old has shown up well on wet tracks in the past winning twice and placing in the top three four times from eight starts on soft or heavy going.

The son of Grunt boasts a good first up record including when taking out a 1250m Benchmark 72 handicap at Canterbury in February last year.

The selection has been racing in stronger company than he tackles here in the main since including when half-a-length second in a 1400m Group 3 at this venue in June last year.

The gelding had won over 1400m in a Benchmark 78 handicap held on a heavy 9 track when racing on the Kensington track at Randwick prior to that.

The pick was spelled following his course Group 3 second and while he failed to shine in two starts last prep he has trialled well ahead of his return to action.

John O’Shea & Tom Charlton’s representative boasts a good barrier here and looks up to resuming with a win.

Bevan Laming’s representative has plenty of experience including when winning over this course and distance as a two-year-old.

That victory, which came on a soft 6 track just under a year ago preceded a good third place finish when beaten less than half-a-length in Group 3 company at Sunshine Coast.

The selection raced on a heavy 10 track over 1200km when facing sixteen rivals that day and any softening of the going would be no issue here.

While it’s disappointing that the son of Better Than Ready has been unable to salute since he has delivered some good efforts in defeat including when racing first up here last month.

The gelding lost out by just under two lengths when second in a 1000m handicap held on a good 4 track that day.

The return to 1200m is in his favour here and while barrier sixteen isn’t ideal here the pick has performed well from wide alley’s in the past.
